I have no idea what they had in mind when writing the song; but I know the story of Anne Boleyn like I know my own. Anne was a commoner in love with a man called Henry Percy, and it was thought they were to get married. There is a theory that their romance was broken up by the married King Henry VIII, who was in love with her. A distraught Anne was more or less forced into a romance with Henry, and he began to seek a divorce, which eventually led to the breaking with the Catholic church, and they got married. The marraige was rocky, they were two turbulent personalites who were extremely intense. Henry VIII wanted a son, and Anne only had a daughter, plus her liberal ideas for the kingdom proved to be dangerous for some of Henry's friends. They accused her of adultery with 5 men which she was almost certainly not guilty of, and her former lover Henry Percy was on the trial that convicted her(he passed out as they read the verdict). She was beheaded, and her daughter eventually became Queen Elizabeth I(the "Virgin Queen"). The song fits in with Henry VIII vainly ripping the two young lovers apart and claiming Anne as his own, along with the alleged protests of Henry Percy. "rip him out of history" certainly would refer to Percy, as he was more or less eliminated from the record, and more or less drank himself to death after Anne's execution.

Wow, I've seen a lot of versions of these lyrics, but that second bunch seems pretty spot on to me! Wow, good job =D Like this song, Dougie's voice sounds very cute and the deep voices are different but effective :) I'm not entirely sure on meaning though :S It seems like there's lots of little stories... Which is unusual for McFly - I mean, they're well known for having very obvious, easily understood songs with simple meanings. Have to give it a few more listens...

I hated this song at first...especially since Dougie's voice actually made my ears want to bleed. Why is it so high pitch?! It made me cringe at first. But then I overlooked his screechy voice and it began to grow on me. It's a pretty cool tune to be honest. Have no idea what the meaning is, but I think Dougie should write the songs more often :] xx
