MegaDeth - Holy Wars.. The Punishment is Due
This is probably Dave Mustaine's best solo, I modified this from another tab and
made it more 'printer-friendly'. You will need 24 frets (and I think a tremolo arm) to
play this exactly how Dave plays it, but there are ways around it.

* Note: If you watch the video, Dave plays the last few bars using the 23rd-24th frets
on the B string, but you can play the pattern on the E string if your guitar doesnt have
enough.
** Note: Although I cant tell for sure, it sounds like he finishes the solo with a
Tremolo Dive-Bomb before going into the final verse, you can just hold the bend if you
want.

| this awesome metal song is definitely about the shit going on in palestine, israel, or the middle east in general. the video is amazing. one moment megadeth are thrashing like maniacs, the next moment you see these arab guys cleaning up after a suicide bombing, and troops marching throught he desert, etc. | |

| this is probrably my favorite song by megadeth. as a member of the U.S. military i can relate to some of the things said "a country that's divided surely cannot stand". this is a surefire implication in my opinion of how civilians have a tendency to lose heart when things get tough, despite the fact the military and government believe they can win. as such they end up losing whatever endeavor then engage in. as for the rest of the song, i think it examines the view from the outside (the holy wars section) and the latter half is about how people may feel shortly before they join in a Jihad. with the last verse finally being the end result of both opinions. the war. and even though the punishment due is based off the punisher comics (so says mustaine) i still think it can be applied in the above mentioned ideas. this song has never been more poignant in my opinion. | |
