Lyrics:
Now one day I started tellin' everyone
That Killing is my business,
And I was hung like a martyr
For looking down the cross
My skull beneath the skin
Prophesied Last rites/Loved to death my friends
The I started seeing bad omens in my head
Good mourning/Black friday
Will I wake up dead?
If I aint superstitious
Then this wont mean a thing
But some crazy shit has happened since the conjuring
Not even close
Not even close
Not even close
To overdose
Had fingers in my eyes
Had needles in my veins
A knife right through my heart
I am a victory
Had fingers in my eyes
Had needles in my veins
A knife right through my heart
I am a victory
Came anarchy to set the world afire
Pain of hook in mouth
In my darkest hour
Corruption of the world
Peace sells, Nobody's buying
Ignorant religion, Holy wars and the dying
Tornado nearly got me
By the skin o' my teeth
This was my life, Forclosure of my dreams
May the past rust in peace
In hangar 18
And countdown to extinction, just be a bad dream
Not even close
Not even close
Not even close
To Overdose
Had fingers in my eyes
Had needles in my veins
A knife right through my heart
I am a victory
Had fingers in my eyes
Had needles in my veins
A knife right through my heart
I am a victory
Had fingers in my eyes
Had needles in my veins
A knife right through my heart
I am a victory
etc

| Why does everybody think every song is about Dave Mustaine trying to get back at Metallica. Every Megadeth song on here is followed by someone saying: "This song is about Dave trying to show Metallica he can be successful....." Not every song is about that. I believe this song really has no exact meaning. It was a fun song put together from some of Megadeths past songs. It sounds like a song they have fun playing/singing, and that is what I beleive it was written for. Also many of these songs, while ass kicking, were not successful for Megadeth. That is all. | |

| why do a lot of people asociate megadeth songs with metallica? c'mon, dave has nothing better to do then write about them all the time? megadeth is bigger than that, and that's what i have to say. don't get me wrong, i was a huge (and still am) metallica fan before i've even heard of megadeth, but i can say that megadeth kicks ass. if dave would have stayed with metallica megadeth would have never existed. lets be gratefull for two great bands, not just one | |

| "The "not even close... to overdose!" line, could that have any relation to the death of Kurt Cobain having happened died from drug overdose April that year, this song was released in November." Kurt Cobain died from a shotgun blast to his face, not an overdose. | |

| This is Dave mustane showing all of his successful songs in spite of metallica who kicked him out. It shows his victory over them and why they shouldnt have thrown him out. | |

| Evilbadger is right. He uses his famous songs in this song to show off his writing skills and prove that he is still successful without metallica. | |

| Prometh, i liked your review. one thing im wondering, is the lyrics in the book doesnt say "not even close... to overdose!" either like you said, its sarcasm, or maybe something along the lines of being victorious in being a drug abusing rock star? and was he using heroin before or during this album? | |

| this song has nothing to do with metallica, and so an't hardly any of megadeth songs. The only song that i can think of is Something I'm Not. This song was wrote and recordered in 20 minutes and was just some random lyrics with Songs from previous albums as words for it. Still a pretty good song | |

| It's not nonsense. He's talking about the history of Megadeth and his "victory" that came with it. He's talking to US, not Metallica. He's telling us that while he is the image of success in the eyes who don't know what life is about. He is rich and famous, but he isn't a victory. He's saying that he's really lost because he's doing heroin. Sarcasm, people! Learn it. | |
