Metallica¥s FIXXER from the album RELOAD

Tabbed by Fredrik Derger
e-mail: derger@hotmail.com

I¥ve tabbed this on request and hope it will please someone.
All (two) guitars are tuned down a half step. The entire song is
tabbed so just play right through it. It actually sounds pretty good.
I found the lyrics on www.lyrics.ch

There is some noise in for a minute or so before the bass enters.
Then this is played with the bass.

Use a Wah-Wah pedal.

Lyrics:

Yeah
Dolls of voodoo all stuck with pins
One for each of us and our sins
So you lay us in a line
Push your pins, they make us humble
Only you can tell in time
If we'll fall or merely stumble

But tell me
Can you heal what father's done
Or fix this hole in mother's son
Can you heal the broken worlds within
Can you strip away so we may start again
Tell me, can you heal what father's done
Or cut this rope and let us un
Just when all seems fine and I'm pain free
You jab another pin
Jab another pin in me

Mirror, mirror upon the wall
Break the spell or become the doll
See you sharpening the pins
So the holes will remind us
We're just the toys in the hands of another
And in time needles turn from shine to rust

But tell me
Can you heal what father's done
Or fix the hole in mother's son
Can you heal the broken worlds within
Can you strip away so we may start again
Tell me, can you heal what father's done
Or cut this rope and let us run
Just when all seems fine and I'm pain free
You jab another pin
Jab another pin in me
Jab it

Blood for face
Sweat for dirt
Three x's for the stone
To break this curse
A ritual's due
I believe I'm not alone
Shell of shotgun

Pint of gin
Numb us up to shield the pins
Renew our faith which way we can
To fall in love with life again
To fall in love with life again
To fall in love with life again
To fall in love
To fall in love
To fall in love with life again

So tell me
Can you heal what father's done
Or fix the hole in mother's son
Can you heal the broken worlds within
Can you strip away so we may start again
Yeah, tell me, can you heal what father's done
Or cut this rope and let us run
Just when all seems fine and I'm pain free
You jab another pin
Jab another pin in me
Oh yeah

No more pins in me, yeah
No more, no more pins in me
No more, no more pins in me
No more, no more, no more
No, no, no

you fuckin people always assume that every song involving pain from one to another, that doesn't say specific names, is always about GOD. get off it. not everyone in the world is following this whole "god is fake", or "GOD allows pain but doesn't heal" TREND. yes, TREND. i guess it's cool , maybe i missed something along the way.

i think this song is about a dysfuntional family. every one jabs their emotional pins into eachother...and when they dont they sharpen them in front of you to remind you not to lash out at them. we are all bound to eachother like that. whoever is the receiver of this torment gets drunk and mows his attackers down with a shotgun. the gin nubs him to he pins.

I think the Voodoo idea of this song could b right.....but i also think the song is about a broken family....how the father messes things up n how it hurts the child...."Can you heal what father's done? Or fix this hole in mother's son?........Just when all seems fine And I'm pain free You jab another pin Jab another pin in me""

It seems that God is rather proficient in stick holes in us, but he seems incapable (or unwilling) to heal.

just a correction.... James' parents were Christian Scientist's..... not Catholics... catholics have nothin wrong with medical procedures.... Christian Scientists believe that the body is a temple, and science should not be used on it....

This song is about a person that is abused by his/her father, or you can look towards it in a religious way that Mankind is being abused by god. The person is represented by a vodoo doll ((brilliant)) and at the end is sick of it all. In the religous way you could say he/she drops his/her faith.

this song could very well be, and probably is about God's relentlessness. People like Eddievanhillbillie just aren't profound enough to grasp the true message behind the metaphor. It's really easy to look at the surface of this song and say that it's about an abuse dad, but if you go one step further and look beyond the surface, you might see that James's qualms with god are a lot like our own; sorry eddievanhillbillie, that might be a little hard for a hic to comprehend. I don't know about you religious people out there but it's time to wake up and smell the fucking coffee, your wasting your time.

This is soo simple. He's Talking to God. God has a voodoo doll for every, and pins are for the sins people commit. then he asks, if god is so mighty, can he heal the pain his father caused. or can he fill the hole religion has left in his life. Then when things are getting better God deals another blow. He goes through the escapes ppl use to not feel pain. "Shell of shotgun Pint of gin Numb us up to shield the pins" ESCAPES from god's pins.
