| This is soo simple. He's Talking to God. God has a voodoo doll for every, and pins are for the sins people commit. then he asks, if god is so mighty, can he heal the pain his father caused. or can he fill the hole religion has left in his life. Then when things are getting better God deals another blow. He goes through the escapes ppl use to not feel pain. | It seems to me that this song is about a father who beats or molests his son. Pins being inserted into a doll, could have some sexual undertones. Heal what father's done. Fix the hole in mothers son. pins going from clean to rusty could be a loss of innocense... The jabbing of pins could be in reference to forced intercourse. Sharpening the pins could be witnessing his father masturbating, reference to pornography. The pint of gin could be the son turning to alcoholism to forget what his father has done to him, renewing faith and so on could be that the father has died and the son realizes that he needs to move on and let go of the past. It could also be in reference to the "liquid courage" aspect of alcohol and alcoholism. Shell of a shotgun, well that's simple.Serial killers who use guns are usually sexual predators. They're insecure about their sexuality and they subconsiously see the gun as an extension of their penis. It could also be a desire to murder his father as an act of revenge. | |
