| This song is based Ulrich's varied feelings during the case against napster. In the movie 'some kind of monster' he says that sometimes he feels all mighty one moment, and then wonders why he's doing it the next, as shown in the line 'All the shots I take, What difference did I make?' great line. And lazyasdrmr, no Metallica song ahould be dedicated to 50 cent. why would the best-selling heavy rock band dedicate a song to a rank asshole who's taken up making 'music' because he's tired of dealing drugs | |

| Why shouldn't Metallica have a fucking computer game?!! Bring that shit on, it'll be fucking cool! They have the money (that I may remind you, they earned through sheer hard work) so why the hell not? Seems like a fun idea to me. Anyway, this song is fucking hilarious. | Basically put, this is from the point of view of either James himself or the entire band. Metallica, having not released an original cd in like 6 years, has put up with a lot of lip from everyone, even their own fans. I was turned into a skeptic myself. In retaliation, the song states that they are not backing off yet and that they are making a good effort, once again, to get back on top "i wont go away, right here i'll stay". Being "shot again" is metallica saying "bring that shit on", and "i bite my tongue, trying not to shoot back" is the final plea for everyone to shut the fuck up, for metallica will try to avoid sinking to the lowest depths of the angry critict. The last verse "wake the sleeping giant..." goes hand in hand with "I bit my tongue...", basically stating that they will let their hate and desire to fire back fade, or "sleep". | |

| For me, this song reflects the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. If you know any about it, this song, to me anyway, reflects what the Palestinians are thinking. Consider: I won't go away Right here I'll stay (They won't leave b/c it's their land) All the shit you fake Comes back to haunt you (This refers to the claims the Israelis make about Palestine being their land and their land only) All the shots I take I spit back at you (The Palestinians are being killed everyday of their lives, yet are trying to deal with it) Bite my tongue Trying not to shoot back (The Palestinians try not to retaliate for fear of being labelled terrorists, yet they do with suicide bombings) I stand on my own I'm stranded and sold (The Palestinians are alone in this b/c everyone, or at least most people, support Israel for false reasons) All the shots I take Hey, what difference did I make (The Palestinians attack the Israeli officials in whatever manner possible, yet it only gets them labelled as terrorists; no one sees that they are only trying to defend themselves. | |
