THIS IS THE CORRECTED TAB. I FOUND SOME MISTAKES AND I
DIDN'T TAB THE HIGH SCREECHY PART. I CHANGED 'EM THE BEST
I COULD AND INCLUDED THE SCREECHY PART.

The verse is divided into three different parts.
It is the same basic riff just a little different on the endings.
Kirk plays his riff along with Jaymz' three diffenent riffs.
I'll put all the different parts together at the end.

This fill is played after the chorus and before Jaymz starts in on the second verse.
Riff 1 is played under this fill. Try playing this fill through the neck pickup.
Sounds almost exactly like the CD.

"Dance little tin goddess"

The "Da, da, da" part has about five guitars playing under it, so I'm gonna try
and tab them the best I can.

This is rhythm part under the "Aye, da, da, da" part.

These next two parts are played together with the "Da, da, da" part. It's
exactly the same as what she sings.

Finally figured out the high screechy part!!! One guitar
plays the high ass part while the other doubles it lower.
The high part is played with some kind of messed up pitch
shifter effect or something.

Fortune fame, mirror vane, gone insane, but the memory remains

Heavy rings on fingers wave
Another star denies the grave
See the nowhere crowd cry the nowhere tears of honor
Like the twisted vines that grow
That hide and swallow mansions whole
And dim the light of an already faded prima donna

chorus

Heavy rings on cigarettes
Up tp lips that time forgets
While the Hollywood sun sets behind your back
And can't the band play on?
Just listen, they play my song

Ash to ash
Dust to dust
Fade to black

chorus

Dance little tin goddess
da, da, da.....

dance little tin goddess is like a producer guiding every move the star makes.

I'd heard that this song was inspired by the movie "Sunset Boulevard". I just saw it a couple of months ago, and the song and the movie do kind of go together.

In my view, this song is about disposable music icons[Linkin park etc] and how they burn out,but it also has a more general meaning about how fame does not last forever.

I agree what's said here, except for the thing with the 6 year olds at metallica T-shirts. It kinda makes me cringe, I'm not sure why. I guess I've always seen heavy metal and just the alt. music scene in general as a more mature music catagory, y'know? The lyrics are generally too deep for a younger person to understand and appreciate fully. But at least the kid's not into his garage hip-hop and happy hardcore "tunes"/"noise"

I've always thought this song was about Dave Mustaine, who got kicked out due to excessive use of cocaine... I think "mirror vain" refers to the egotism induced by coke. Dave Mustaine ended up getting famous with Megadeth, but in 40 years nobody will remember him, and Metallica will never be forgotten.

Metallica fans tend to dislike this song, for some reason. I am quite fond of it, since seeing the video to this song is how I discovered Metallica. I've been hooked ever since. To me, this song is about beauty and how it fades, and now no one, no matter how "important", is immortal. The lyrics bring to mind old sex symbols like Mae West....she was a major sex symbol in the 1930s and 1940s, but by the 1970s she was old, penniless, wrinkled and wearing a half-pound of make-up. She was the epitome of tacky attempts at agelessness, and she finally died in complete disgrace. The lyrics to this song bring an image like that into my mind.
