	yeah weaselfierce i believe you are correct on the lyric there. I always thought this song was about someone trying to pull the writer out of the hole that was his life, but everytime he kept on pushing the helper away...and now he regrets it.....could just be me thouhg....definatley yhas something to do with past mistakes etc

	It's a story about a bum who put himself there despite the best efforts of those around him who tried to help. Frankly you can't fall much lower than that, short of death on the street. Heck you're already halfway there. A "trash fire" isn't symbolic of very much other than a trash fire, and makes more sense when you see homeless on the street huddled around 55 gallon oil drums burning garbage during the winter.

	Its about a man who made alot of mistakes in his life (obviously) and feels that nobody wants him anymore "Bring this poor dog in from the rain" But he keeps going back to the drugs "Though he just wants right back out again" And... he's thinking of suicide "Of what is dawning to do, Maybe you'll understand and dont cry for this man 'Cuz low man is due"

	I interpret this song to be about a homeless man who once had a family, but drugs messed up his life and now he's out on the streets. He just wants his family to forgive him and no matter how they try to help him, he keeps ending up back "out in the rain", and on the street. The trash fire symbolizes the place where he feels safest. It's warm and comforting, but not safe from the storm that is his drug use. He's writing this letter to his family to tell them to forgive him and and not to worry about him because he did it to himself.
