OK DUDES, this song is about the original person in the original Unforgiven that after being beaten and torn finds someone to relate to! "Lay beside me, tell me what they've done" He's asking her to tell him what they did to her to compare it to what they've done to him. "If you can understand the me, then i can understand the you" He's saying that if she can understand what happened to him then he can understand what happened to her because they went through the same things "In the black of day and dark of night we share this paralyzed" He's saying that they can talk all day and all night about what happened to them And the rest of the song if you can see it how i do is self-explainitory... this was an awesome song! I especially liked the part at the end where they put the original song in it

tipically, girls tend to like this one more than the original Unforgiven I don't know why, though. Any ideas? Personally, I like the other one. This one is great, but lacks some of the strength in Unforgiven, IMHO.

You cannot compare the first and second ones to each other because both are talking about different things and they're both from different time periods

I love this song. It's my favourite from the black album, and one of my favourites of all time. I think that it's about the life of a boy who was labelled and pressured into being what other's wanted, and in the end he regrets it all and no longer cares to live.

it means so much to me because the song is about people gettin beat up and made fun of and like the song says, labeled. i had to go through that in elementary skool and middle, now ppl think iom a lesbian and i truthfully dont give a shit. its about beliving in yourself.

Jigokusabre is right. Except that in the end of Unforgiven that child becomes old. This is about the rest of the life of the person in Unforgiven and how he/she finds someone else who knows how he/she feels.

Unforgiven: A child becomes a lost soul after being beaten down by the conformist society Unforgiven II: That lost soul is found by another.
