| This song has alot of ambiguous meaning to different people. However, I think the band wrote it from the state of mind of someone literally being trapped under ice. I only think this because much of the album explores life-and-death situations that really have no escape. | |

| i agree whith what some others have said.the album Ride The Lightning( my favorite by the way) consists of a lot of tracks about being in a situation that you can't escape.death is the only way out.songs like Ride the Lightning, Fade to Black, and Escape are others from the same album that talk about these situations | |
