	this song always reminds me of how when i was really little when i had a bad dream or if i was feaked out or had a temer tantrum my mother would calm me down by rubbing my back and making "shhh" noises. my mom died when i was about 7, my dad remarried and my stepmother would try to do the same if i had a bad dream but it never ever worked and i would just lay awake and stare at the glow in the dark stars on my ceiling.

	Jonas has said that Comforting sounds is about losing the safety of childhood and growing up but not wanting to. You grow up and realise that not all adults are nice people .

	This song has a great pacing buildup to the instrumental climax. Even the ending is perfect, it just leaves you hanging for a splitsecond and then you hear the finale. I do agree with the drug interpretation. Although "blunted" could refer to an actual marijuana blunt, I think that it's rather implying a kind of numbed state of consciousness. Like a sharp point- or sharp mind- that has been reduced to a blunt and ineffectual point. "Comforting Sounds" has particular importance to me. I started listening to Mew after a rough couple of semesters at college. At first I was working 2 jobs plus classes. But when I quit one job, I had so much free time that I just started drinking more and more. It got to the point in my second semester where I was drinking upwards of 12 beers about 5 or 6 days a week after work. Once summer rolled around, I had a on-call job and would rarely be called in and wound up drinking about every single day. I got pulled over one day, thrown in jail for 7 hours and got a DUI. Over the next few months I couldn't believe what I'd done. Being in a relatively prestigious school and never having received as much as a parking violation, I felt I'd really fucked up. That's when I found this song- and I felt I could really sympathize with it.

	I always thought this was about unhappiness, and as Chymes said, being lonely. but i always thought that it was trying to be happy, and someone he wasnt that made him lonely. I don't know. I love it though.

	Right now this song is the best from Frengers. I listened this song yesterday many times. I think it´s about letting down. And yes I agree what nani said.
