| "Grape on the vine, Why not be crushed to make wine?" this line is awesome. it makes me realize that pain is sometimes necesary in life to make something wonderful and be changed into something better. | |

| i kind of see this as saying all throughout the song that we have been given so many opportunities, but what do we really do with them? are we gonna allow ourselves to be made into wine? be raised from the dead and follow christ? be failures in the world? we have so much potential, the question is what are we going to do with that potential? live it to the fullest or just dry up? | |

| To answer Unnecessary Oppinion's question... I believe that line is speaking almost a modern sense of the verse in the Bible where it says: "I stand at the door and knock"... Awesome song... it kinda sounds like he's singing on there... | |

| "grape on the vine, why not be crushed to make wine" refers to us in relation to God(the vine), and he is asking to die and be with Him. This is further established by the line, "six of my closest friends dig up the ground, and all my accomplishments gently lowered down", this is six bullets in a chamber, digging up the ground to bury him and all his worldly accompishments buried with him. That second line is not posted above but it's in the song | |

| agreed. my favorite off the new album. i wish they wouldve added another acoustic song though, that really brought out the variety of the band. "Pay no attention to me dancing with my girl - we have every intention to be failures in this world" that line is just so amazing. | |

| "I'll ring your doorbell until You let me in and I can go no longer where 'you' end and "I" begin" I've thought about this line for a while and have come to no good conclusions as to what this means... any ideas? Its also missing the lines "Six of my closest friends dig up the ground, all my accomplishments gently lowered down." | |

| I agree with the last post. I think this song is just a rewritten version of that Bible story with a possible mix of other Bible references - that is pretty much every mewithoutYou song though..haha | |

| I talked to aaron about the meaning of this song and hers what he gave me: the refrain and overall sort of point of the song is about community and our need to be crushed together into one, a death of the self. the same is so for the first verse, the second verse is based on the beatitudes (blessed are the failures), the third and fourth the inevitability and apparant finality of death. hope that clears up things a bit :) | |

| "I'll ring your doorbell until You let me in and I can go no longer where 'you' end and "I" begin" This is how I take these lines : The singer will go into the door (his death) when it is opened (by Jesus). He is no longer on Earth, where God sometimes is forgotten. He is no longer on Earth, where he was born. The converse is this: He is in Heaven, where God is at the center of everything. He is in Heaven, no longer where he began (was born). So yeah. W00t. This song is awesome... I love mewithoutYou's lyrics, but sometimes they're so hard to understand... :S | |

| I agree with everything on the board, but I had a sort of 'revelation' about that the last line of the song. "The son of the widow you raised from the dead - where did his soul go when he died again?" Pre-Christ (according to Christian theology) souls went to a place called Sheol, where they waited until Christ came for them. Then, when He died, He went to Sheol and those that believed in Him went to Heaven while those that didn't went to Hell-just like we as living people do. Therefore, the soul of the boy that Jesus Christ ressurected came back from Sheol when he was ressurected. By asking where the boy's soul went when he died again, what's really being asked is if (after having an experience like that) if the kid followed Christ. I don't know if that was really obvious and everyone knew it, but it's not on this board so I thought I'd say it anyway. | |

| they closed with this song when i saw them as well. even though that might be the realy meaning of this song, to me it reminds me of accepting everything has an end and no use regretting over things you have done, becuase you can always get something better. | |
