by the way phoebe (that's a pretty name), this is a political song, so it'd be natural that the discussion over it would be political (plus i just like to see people argue, and to see where they go with it).

golfpunk, not all americans are bloodthirsty. and even though i don't agree with our politics or with a lot of our foreign policies, i know not all those in the military are bloodthirsty, in fact most just want to protect their families and men. my dad is in the army, he has been for 33 years, and he's seen a lot. he's always said the army does a lot he doesn't agree with, but the guys in his unit are his friends, and they've bled together. he isn't in it to kill, he's in it for his men, to keep them alive, and he's in it to protect his family. he's told me he knows he's made mistakes, and has done things that aren't right. but he does his best to protect us. i don't believe in killing, or in this war. but i want golfpunk to know, even though we've all messed up, and had a part in this. not all of us just want blood. and not all of us just don't care.

i've read over this whole thing, and i love it. a good debate is what we need. but think about this, is there really an excuse for bloodshed? war isn't a righteous thing. and killing a brother isn't pretty. whichever side started it, it doesn't matter, whatever cause all of it is for, it doesn't matter. the fact remains that people are killing other people, and instead of shifting blame, people should work to bring peace. but everyone seeks their own selfish desires (whether it's money, power, or revenge), and as long as there is this greed, there will never be any peace. in the end, there isn't anyone that's innocent, and there isn't anyone more to blame than any other. every person plays a part in the bloodshed (directly or indirectly, with action or attitude), and in the end, every person is guilty.

I agree with u vid freeze, totally....I think that millencolin wanted americans to realize that what s happening to them is just what they deserved coz of all those things USA did to arabs countries. I am canadian not american so I see USA from a different angle than americans themselves.

When it says "its not enough to be second best" i think its more likely referring to america getting the crap blown out of it on september 17 or whenever it was ad they wanted to fight back and prove they were better, not that afghan werent content with being second best to america...i dunno, jsut a thought
