I attended a forum in which Ian Mackaye was the keynote speaker and he said that he regretted being so specific in this song because [skinheads/racists] changed the meaning of this song to something that he didn't intend at all.

Well, have you ever looked on the line change as if he means tha Ian is right in what he's saying... Like, it's wrong to blame hc-punks for slavery, in this case, Ian was blamed, only because his skin, isn't that bigotry from the blacks as well. Beating up a white kid, because of slavery, that he got nothing to do with, and if i know Ian, he would've fought against slavery if he'd live at the time. So what I try to say is: Maybe Slayert means that Ian's guilty for beeing riight in that is wrong that he got to take shit for slavery.
