| About the whole slayer thing, they aren't really racists. Only one of them's actually a skinhead. And the reason they covered this song in the first place is because they're a THRASH metal band, and the whole point of the hardcore covers album this was on (Undisputed attitude) was to acknowledge that thrash's roots came as much from hardcore (like Minor Threat and Black Flag) as from metal. They're not actually racists, and they even acknowledge they're actual bigotries (kerry king's a bit of a homophobe) which doesn't make them right or excuse them or anything (it still makes King seem pretty fucking ignorant) but there really is a big gap between the way they act and the way some of their fans act, and i just think that should be pointed out. The reason they changed the line at all is just to piss people off. Tom Araya's reaction when he saw the change was "Cool, controversy". Again, that doesn't make it right (or smart) but it's just an explanation. Plus, remember, these are the guys who reccomend necrophilia because they like the way "the maggots crunch" when you go down on a corpse, so i don't think everything they say is exactly serious. A stupid lyrical change, but not really a biggoted one. | |

I don't have anything against Slayer really, but they probably should have just kept the last line what it originally was, just to be safe... there's always people that will jump on anything that somebody has said if it sounds slightly racist in any way. But it was pretty dumb of them to change it at all. | |
