| This song has a deeper meaning than many of you seem to think. It is a song about a man, a man who has created a monster. It's a figurative monster--the monster represents all his lies and problems he has been making for himself, "When my monster, from its slab, began to rise" or when his problems finally came up to bite him in the ass, he "did the mash" or tried to make the best out of his negative situation. However, in his "Castle to the East", or the problems he had made for himself elsewhere, arose at the same time. Again he tries to play it cool, and "all were digging the sound." They believed him, even though he was really swimming in a vat of his own lies. But in the end, despite the negativity contained in this poor man's head, others perceived him as what he was not. | |
