Moby
Southside ft. Gwen Stefani
from "Play"

Tabbed by Ben R.

If you have any suggestions or corrections, email me at BRcool22@aol.com

I'm not totally sure about the chorus but these are the first two chords

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-------1----------------------------------------------------------------2----|
--2----2-------------------------------------4---2----------------------2--2-|
--2----2-------------------------------------2---2----------------------2--2-|
--0------------------------------------------2---0-------------------------0-|
then it might be something like this or with this variation

If you know the chorus email me

Verse 2
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
--14--14-1412-12/14-14--14-14/17-1714-14--1412-12/14--14-14/17------------|
--13--13-1311-11/13-13--13-13/16-1613-13--1311-11/13--13-13/16------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-1714--14--1412-12/14-14--------------------------------------------------|
-1613--13--1311-11/13-13--------------------------------------------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

This is kind of strange. In the song, they don't really play both notes in
that chord. Listen to it and you can hear it. Otherwise you probably have
no idea what I'm talking about. Play the bottom note prior to a down slide
and when you come back up play the top note instead and vice versa.
For Example:
Play:
-------------------14-14--14-14/17-17---------|

I much prefer the version with Gwen Stefanis' voice, than the one without.

Years later, still one of my favorite songs of all time. Hybrid's remix of this song still just electrifies me

imho, the video was gorram stupid. Was I missing something? Anyway, the song on the other hand sounds amazing. I'm not sure about the meaning, but I think the other posts here make sense. I'll make another post if I think of something....

Well, if Moby said it was about an apocalyptic future, and he wrote the song, then that's what the songs is about. But if I hadn't heard that from Moby....... I would think that it's about getting high. I don't do drugs, but that sounds like a high to me. But, the last line of the song doesn't make sense with this interpretation, because after being high you would probably wouldn't "feel so well," but instead feel bad because you came back to reality.

He said in Blender (I think) that it was about a group of kids driving around in a post-apocalyptic future. Weird guy, that Moby. I'm just kiddin' ya, Mobes, you know who loves you!

I guess the song is about the divisiveness of the future city then - this is the direction we're heading. Well regardless I actually think this song is highly annoying and wish the local radio station would stop playing it. Not a big fan of the talking verses, and Gwen's computerized cooing is overdone.

Yes Dr. D, you were missing something..the "gorram" (using fictional insults for something you don't understand, how avant-garde) video was making fun of the process of making videos.
