Subject: Re: REQ: Melt With You by Modern English
The chords shown are drawn this way due to the diffences
in tab and font sizes from news reader to news reader.
"Melt With You" - English Beat (early '80's)
This song is a snap to learn and hard to forget.
I used the video of this song on Mtv to get the
chords and solos. The guitar players hands are
in good view throughout. It's a very basic song,
but when done right (and with an OK voice) it
sounds very nice.
I play it on an 'old' Fender acustic 6 string. It
will definitely sound better using a large bodied
12 string.
Apology: I'm not that well versed in the names of
different chords, so I don't know the name of the
two chords in this song.
These two chords shown are 90% of the song. The
intro and the chorus are played the same. (Each
chord strummed for an 8 count) For the refrain
the #1 chord is held and picked. The rest is even
simpler. The refrain, bridge and solo shown here
are paterns which are repeated.
Good luck and (as always) have fun.

| I think this song is about a couple who has just broken up. And this guy's trying to get back with her. "Moving forward using all my breath" It's taking all he's got to try and move on. He is basically telling this girl he would stop the world to be with her if he could. "You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time" He's trying his hardest to change for her and she knows it but she just still doesn't want to be with him. I absoloutly love this song. | |

| To me this song is about breaking up with someone tring to move forward and thinking of how great your love was, and wanting to "stop the world..." to be in that moment again with that one special person. "You've seen the difference and it's getting better all the time" This could be about still being around that person, and thinking about getting back together? kinda like, you don't know what you got till it's gone; then you try to change for the better to get it back? "The future's open wide" Anything is possible... Beautiful Song... Also listen to the Nouvelle Vague so sweet and smooth | |

| I don't think the Cure's covered this song, but a lot of people think they did the original. Nonetheless, beautiful song. | |

| Eh, I see the song as being about multi-racial relationships. Note in the actual video, how a multi-racial couple is dancing. Hmm. | |

| Just completely excellent. The first few verses blow my mind every time. Bowling For Soup did a terrible, whiney rendition of this song. The orginal is still the best... Now and Forever... I hate Cats (sigh). | |

| There's nothing you and I won't do I'll stop the world and melt with you I'm not sure I want to melt ... Can I meld with you? You already have. Then melting could still be on the agenda .... I don't want to go liquid ... So don't. Be a love goddess and melt the hearts of the world ... I can't imagine something like that would be easy. Neither can I but why would that stop you? Because I don't know how? You might surprise yourself and everyone else ... Or you ... That too ... | |
