i agree with most of what you said, 764-mouser, but i didnt agree with "He's supposed to be writing for the FANS not the masses." i think artist should write what they are thinking/feeling, not what anyone else wants

I think this song is about arrogance and taking yourself too seriously. "using so many verbs and nouns","named our children..." and "laughing at the stars" and many of the other lines are all criticizing our willingness to think of ourselves as so prolific and so smart, despite the fact that we're all "dumb dumb dumber than the dirt dirt dirt on the ground." He brings up a good point that vanity is our greatest weakness, and that we should take a good look at ourselves ("you should run round yourself right now") and who we really are before making assumptions on how great we are.

This song is about a failed relationship, and how rediculous some of the rules and run arounds are. Some bitter moments like "well i should put you in the ground." And how often relationships can become such bullshit after awhile. I really like how our schools and society value learning and using our verbs and nouns, but in the end most of the people are just complete dumbfucks.

I have to turn this song down when I listen to the Good News For People Who Love Bad News album. He says "fucking around" very prominently in the chorus. I guess they don't bother with the "Parental Advisory" labels anymore, I didn't see one on this album. No, I don't normally care about that or have a pole up my as - just an observation.

I love how the lyrics blend mindless rage with well-thought-out rage. haha. Don't know a word for that besides "brilliant". Modest Mouse didn't sell out, they matured.

Okay i'm to lazy to read the 2nd page but first of all the first page, "FUCK" OH MY FUCKING GOD IT'S JUST A FUCKING WORD LIKE WE HAVE BITCH AND ASSWHOLES AND BULLSHIT!!! they all words what do you care? I mean fuck the whole labe warnning that they going to use some bad words fuck that! really come on you going to hear it anyways! and it's unlike you know the word. I mean if you walk down twon most likey you'll hear a word like that! Okay now let's move on, as for the song itself i have to disagree with the top people! IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FUCKING BREAKING UP! you could soo tell they talking about their group, they were going into some hard times and i'm glad they made a song something like that. As for the nones and towns they never been too it's like rules that never make much good for them. As they were laughing and smiling how that all fade away and they'll at a person death for it was unknow and the fact that death is all over the place. Oh my god sometimes i worry about people and how they see lyrics not every song is about breaks up....

Good song, good song. It's about going to school (which is a waste of life), being 'educated' and still being fucking stupid. Like most people. That's what I think, anyways...

This song is all about growing up, hitting 30 and realizing how stupid you were when you were younger. In the past, they thought they were true to themselves, but now they realize they were never true to anybody. They laughed at the stars (Symbolism for the mystical and the apex of creation), while they were stuck going nowhere.
