| Incidentally, Sun Kil Moon (aka Mark Kozelek) redid this song on their Tiny Cities album. If you'd like to hear a completely different rendition of this awesome song check out the Tiny Cities version. | |

| A song about migration. The reason the convenient parking is way back is because it's easier to leave if you're closer to the exit of the parking lot. | |

| Rocks is right, Isaac. I mean cars. I mean... Okay well, what I pick up is that in most of their songs, there is a sort of catharsis that builds up.. even as an album and just explodes in the end or at some point for a denoument. As well, their songs carry a deep seeded symbolism that maybe hard to decipher. Well, I think in this songs case Rocks is synonymous with automobiles. I mean think about it. About, I'd say, 80% mass of most cars is some kind of metalic alloy. And where do your get metal? No not 80's hair bands! You get it from the earth. you excract it through some coking process. And I believe also that he's making some commentary about the desire to live in a fast food society... and how it's completely overrated. I hope i have typos. love, mathias | |

| "Well aren't you feeling real dirty Sitting in your car with nothing Waiting to bleed on the big streets " Urban sprawl and traffic congestion, and we brag about our perfect parking spots. Better to park "way back" and make less of an impact. | |

| Maybe it's just me but i think that "ha ha ha ha" park right after he says convenient is more than just filler. It's like he's saying "Convenient!? Don't make me laugh!" | |

| I agree. The part about plastic rocks and bleeding onto the streets is about selling crack.... which is commonly refered to as plastic rocks and can be found in parking lots. | |

| This song could also reference waiting in parking lots for drugs. That's what I always got out of it. "sell these (plastic) rocks Well aren't you feeling real dirty Sitting in the parking lot Waiting to bleed on the big streets" That just reminds me "sitting in your car with nothing" for hours waiting for the dealer to show up. | |

| Reminds me of WalMart... It could be a criticism of the "chain reaction" of consumerism that perpetuates itself and has spread to basically every city in the universe since this song was written in 1997. I'm sure they didn't write it specifically about WalMart, but it fits. As the last few people have said, it probably originally had something to do with urban sprawl taking over, thus the title of the cd. | |

| I believe this song is about drugs. The deal happens in a parking lot, then the drugs spill out into the streets and other cities. | |

| I grew up in the town that Modset Mouse came from (Sammamish, or some would say Issaquah) and it's gone from nothing to a sprawling soccer-mom infested city with overcrowded high schools and scores of outlet malls. They wrote this song right about the time when it was growing into what it is now. So I agree with the idea that this song is anti-urban sprawl and frustration w/ traffic and everything annoying that comes along w/ it. | |
