I think the meaning of this song is pretty obvious. It's about those days in which everything is okay and there are no worries. Crashing into a cop car would usually mean getting written up, but they just drove away. Float on...

Can anyone make out what he's saying in the background at the end of the song? It's a different line, but I can't really tell what it is. P.S. Stop arguing about popularity. You all sound like idiots. And why can't the Olson twins have good taste in music? They're hip young girls, man. Modest Mouse is right up their alley. Or something.

This song is abberantly optimistic, and I just knew it would be the first radio/promo-ready tune of theirs.

It makes me mad that they wrote the wrong lyric in the lyric booklet. "We both got fired on exactly the same day, that we were gonna quit it anyways." They never say that last line, and they should, because the line they put there instead ('Well we'll float on, good news is on the way') which just makes the song that much more repetitive. This CD isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be. Their older music was so much better. I remember back in the good ole days when they used to just rock out for minutes at a time with no words, and now it's as if Isaac Brock is afraid not to cover every second of every song with lyrics, no matter how bland they may be. Regardless, this song is one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork I've ever heard.

The interesting thing about the title is that it IS clever. The question is, is the good news for the people and they won't like it? Or is it that he has good news for them: that he has bad news. If they like bad news, then getting bad news would be considered good news for them. Clever indeed.

This song's meaning is QUITE simple. It means, bad stuff happens, yeah, but we'll all just keep on living our lives...in other words, "We'll all float on okay."
