Head South. Plagiarists like him only show how much he must suck at guitar
since he couldn't figure it out before me.

The verse was the hardest thing for me to figure out. I have several
ways you could play this, however, whether or not they are accurate is
a different story. The one I felt was most accurate is in this tab.

| I can't believe no one has figured out the relatively simplistic message of the lines: [As life gets longer, awful feels softer. Well it feels pretty soft to me.] - Meaning his life has certainly felt pretty long, so awful thus feels pretty soft. [And if it takes shit to make bliss, Then I feel pretty blissfully.] - A lot of shitty things have happened in his life. Thus, if shitty things make bliss, then Isaac must feel pretty blissfully. | |

| in all honesty, i think this song is interpretating "double door action." if something happens good, it's just going to be turned around into something bad. once you think you have control on yourself, and everything is bliss, there is always something to be worse, or bad. life, it rents you, in exchange for something good, but then when "rent is up" your bound for a hard time. we'll always be ourselves and we'll stay where we are. nothing will ever be so organized and great for a long time. evil will get you, eventually. | |

| I love this song. Even though this sounds the least like a Modest Mouse song, it is a great one. I think it is about how people always are wanting something better. No matter what they have, they always want what their 'neighbor' has. | |

| One of the two songs that jumped out at me on my first full listen of the album (the other was Bukowski). I'm curious about the "drug line" you mention. The "If it takes shit to make bliss, well I fell pretty blisfully" is more of a entertainment thing again. He's saying all these products are supposed to enhance your life. So, he figures that since he has everything, he's happy right? The problem is, he doesn't feel any different. The other interpretation is: his life is such a wreck, it must be wonderful; because, out of pain and hard times comes great things according to most of your western religions. | |
