im glad to see so many thoughtful reviews of this great song. the only interpretation if seen i dont agree with (as its mentioned a few times) is the front that his family is sad to be putting on. its been my experience that "trailer trash" people dont give a flying fuck what people think about them... and futhermore, give even less about hiding their personal matters. therefore there is no fucking way they would put on any type of front. i do however think that, "And I shout that you're all fakes And you should have seen the look on your face And I guess that's what it takes When comparing your bellyaches" should be interpreted as a trailer trash kid turned moderately successful (Isaac Brock, myself) trying to really get out the fact that anyone who hasn't had to deal with similar situations, can bitch all they want about their problems, for them it was just as bad as our trailer trash problems. to put it another way, both sets of situations rank a 5 on a chart, its just that there are two different charts, with different labels.

Even though I am not 'trailer trash' I can still relate to almost all of this song. The line "Short love with a long divorce" hits home truthfully as well as the sentiment that "High School means nothing." One of my favorite songs off of Lonesome Crowded West.

i live in bremerton (pretty close to snohomish) and i can truthfully say that it is a really nice town i cant picture isaac or any of the band members growing up in a trailer with nothing to eat but then again maybe im wrong isaacs lyrics baffle me and im constantly changing my mind about their meanings thats one reason i love MM so much top 5 fav band for sure

I may be going out on a limb with this but I agree with whitetide. Sort of. I think it has to do with a relationship with a mother, only I think it is more about both emotional and financial neglect. "Eating snow flakes with plastic forks And a paper plate of course, you think of everything"--I think the "you think of everything" part is bitter sarcasm. "Short love with a long divorce And a couple of kids of course They don't mean anything"--Explaining his neglect. "Goddamn I am such a jerk, I can't do anything"--Possibly what his mother has said to him? "And I shout that you're all fakes And you should have seen the look on your face And I guess that's what it takes When comparing your bellyaches"--I see this as the mother/family ignoring their problems and putting on a front to everyone. "And it's been a long time Which agrees with this watch of mine And I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry if I dissed you:--Looses touch with said mother but still loves and misses her. The story of my life. Sorry if this is too long kids. I am quite bored at the moment.

I am pretty fucking confident that this song has nothing to do with a girlfriend or ex-relation...but then again, I don't claim to understand what occurs inside of Isaac Brock's head (the last show I went to, he was screaming "don't hate the shepard", or some variation on that, for about ten minutes after his band walked off of the stage...the guy was fucking psychotic or posessed or something)
