I think this song is about drugs, and how using them were the "good times" and then he found out that all that drug usage was killing him. Hence, "The good times are killing me". He also says something which suggests addiction, to most likely coke or methamphetamines, when he says this: "Have one, have twenty more "one more"s and oh it does not relent " I think he's talking about saying this is his last time snorting coke or whatever it may be. He says it's one more time, but it's not which is why he says have "have twenty more "one mores"". That's just my view, I'm not positive though.

For the people taking the "yeah, well he was better when he was doing acid..." tip, uh, have you listened to the song? I mean, I love this song, love it, but there is such a heavy sadness, like he's trapped into the lifestyle he's in... The good times are killing me? Most recreational users wouldn't say such a thing. I think it is clearly a statement of "yeah, shit's fucked up right now, and it could very easily kill me..." in a very literal way... I mean, it's not secret that the lead singer likes to drive intoxicated and purposefully bought a volvo specifically to blend in with other cars and not get pulled over... Love the music, but it makes me sad to hear the kind of despair that this song suggests... Even in the vocals/instrumentation... I mean, that's just me putting my spin on it, i know, but that's i guess what it means to me.... yeah...

"they only reason it lost it's spark is BECAUSE he did LSD, he got fucked in the head from that stuff, he knows it too" Fucked in the head from LSD use? Haha. Stop believing everything DARE told you and get educated fast! www.erowid.org LSD can bring out psychosis in people with underlying mental problems such as schizophrenia, but I don't think Isaac is displaying any evidence of psychosis. If anything he should be worried about his alcohol consumption and meth use.

yeah this is about drugs O: Can you talk a bit about "The Good Times Are Killing Me," and how it touches on the band's reputation for over-indulgence? IB: There's been a lot of drug abuse. The only drugs I've ever actually written any music on are pills, pot, and alcohol. Acid or coke, you can't write songs on that shit. I kind of regret how much I did drugs. There was a point in time when it seemed like a good plan, but it probably wasn't. Especially inhalants, and shit like that—I think I was a bit brighter before I did that. Inhalants and meth were probably the two things that totally fucking screwed me out of some brain cells." damn isaac, brighten up

The "real world" is nothing but layers upon layers of illusion. Some figure this out on their own, others are shown this through psychadelic drugs or traumatic experiences. Don't ever accept everything at face value. "Reality is far stranger than we can suppose" -Terence McKenna

I think the lines 'kick butt buzz-cut dickheads who didn't like what I said' and 'Shit-kicker city slickers who all wanted me dead' are about when local Chicago kids broke Isaac's jaw when they were recording The Moon & Antarctica
