It makes me feel MM is becoming a generic kinda band with that one love song bands need, but it is a good song in my opinion.

I love this song, tied with Spitting Venom for my favourite song off the new album

This song is incredible, maybe the best on the album.

The whole song, all together, rocks. I think Modest Mouse brought themselves to a new level with their new album. I love it.

To me, this seems more like a song about breaking up, not so much hopeful as it is sad. "We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and they both tell me they were better than this" They get into small fights, which escalate, yet they don't want to end what they have. "We trade tit for tat like that for this and I don't think that there was an insult that was missed I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and I'm very sorry" again with the fighting. "we fold and we had made a wish that we wouldn't be missed If one another just did not exist" This part seems like its saying that they are going to miss each other, so they wish that they had never existed together.

it is definitely a breakup song... but i dont think they are waiting for love or death, well maybe death, but not literal death-- death of a relationship. i think they are both waiting to forget. i see this in the very firrst verse: "I hope that you like it in your little motel and I hope that the suite sleeps and suits you well well I can see it as time and a sight through smell and thats why its nice to be by yourself" specifically the last line, so they are waiting for it to be nice to be without the other. you know that shitty feeling after a breakup, where you know that it just wont work, even though you want it to? and you just have to wait it out til you can forget about them/ happy to be with out them? thats what i think this song is about. in the last verse he says: "before we had made a wish that we would be missed If one another just did not exist" they are both wishing that the other didnt exist, but at the same time they want the other to miss them when they arent together, cuz you feel better if you know that they miss you as much as yuo miss them. cool song, but i still think the greatest break up song ever is she ionizes and atomizes

great song that reminds me of the old mouse. awesome solo. it pains me to imagine what this song could be like on an independent label though. An extended solo/jam along the lines of talking shit or night on the sun would have made this song three times as good.
