Song: Silver
Band: Moist
Tabbed by: Johnnie K
The song itself wasn't very hard to Tab out, but I had to do it from
memory so if there are a few mistakes please let me know.
The main chords (the ones played after the little riffs) are variations of
A: x022xx
D Flat: x0020x
G: x35500 I will call it G.
The begining and the parts until Dave sings 'Everybody wants, Everybody says...'
are the same. to remind you of my symbols, I use '/' as the symbol for slide.
E--------------------------------------------------------------------
B--------------------------------------------------------------------- Repeat the whole thing.
G------------2-----------2-------2-/-5---------- We'll call this Riff 1
D--2-3-2-0-2-2-3-2-0-0-3-2-0-2-3-2-/-5 ---------
A------------0-----------0--------------0---3----------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------------
G-----------2---------------2----------------------5--------------9------------------------- Repeat once
D-----------2---------------0----------------------5--------------9------------------------- We'll call this Riff 2
A-----------0---------------0----------------------3--------------7-------------------------
E----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everybody wants, Everybody says, Everybody begs..In time
For the second verse, repeat Riff 1 and 2 like you did before until the Chorus
starts:
A
and you will be the first to fall
D flat
every feeling will dissolve
G B(?)
We are...silver
A
Morphine baby's final breath
D flat
Ever smothered to my breast
G B(?)
We are Silver
Then there is a piano part that can be played on guitar, it is played before the
verse starts again.
G-----------------14-5-5-5-5----------
D-2-3-5-15-14-5-2-14-5-5-5-5-0-2-3-2
Repeat this all again, afterwards Dave will break out into a high sung part
where Mark plays a basic scale variation. I have gone through the trouble of
tabbing out the version on the album. The live version is different most of the
time. There are a few effects in it that I haven't bothered to tab though, I
think it is just a basic wah pedal.
B-15-15-15-15-15-13-13-12-12-10-10-12-12-12-12-13-10-10-8-8-15-15-15-15-13-13-12-12-10-12-12-12-12-13-10--10---10---10---8-8-
G-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------10--10---10---10-------
And then the whole thing repeats until the very end where there is another cool
keyboard riff that can be played on guitar. This is
D-2-3-2-3-5-5-7-2-3-2-3-2-0----0-2-3----
A----------------------------------3------------- Repeat this twice,
I think, it varies a bit on the second time, but it isn't hard to figure out.
If anyone knows that chord played over the word 'Silver' please edit it in.
This is all I can help you with for this song.
I was lost in between...have you been....have you been...have you been Silver???

| Tis about the asymilation of society. "Close your eyes... this envy that i've worn so well." This verse is society entising, or teasing a 'castaway' of itself (society) "Everybody wants" - we all have dreams "Everybody says" - we all lie when are dreams fall through "Everybody begs in time" - after a while we can't take the restraint any more "so drink me in like tainted wine" - give in to society "come bit edown on the sharpened cup" - give in to what will eventually hurt you. "and taste the dreams that numb the mind" - live the 'american dream', vise your own dreams "a simple word.... that binds.... thread... pins....bed" - how society makes you captive with false promises; lawers, etc... "you will be the first to fall" - humans are the first species to imprison themselves "every feeling will dissolve" - the book 1984, a world with-out emotions, ruled by society. "we are silver" - society is like silver, shiny, looks good, speads like wildfire, materialistic, yet consumes Oxigen to form Ag2O, a black tarnish that covers it all. "morphine baby" - unatural births causing babies to be exposed to leathal drugs before birth. "final breath, ever smothered to my breast" - A mother's nurturing now only helps in the Assimilation. "so shy.... judas kill... thrill" - we are desensitised to all that we do, and can get away with murder. "a memory i won' t soon forget" - however society always does remember all our mistakes; a false sense of innocense. "been washed out clean... you could sell" - Your mistakes can, at a wim, be taken fully advantage of, and in the end you must live with yourself. Overall.... That I get from this song, Live life as you want to. | |

| I'm pretty much in agreement with the other guy. My favorite line though is "The charmed enigma chosen one... painted lips, skin ripped and torn..." I think this part is about how you'll just be ravaged by the rest of the people content with the way society works should you try to stray from it. | |
