Moneen Biography

Moneen is a band from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Formed in 1999 after the dissolution of another band named Perfectly Normal, the original members included Kenny Bridges (vocals / guitar), Chris "Hippy" Hughes (vocals / guitar), Peter Krpan (drums) and Mark Bowser (bass). Bowser was replaced early on by Chris Slorach who played on their first two releases. After the release of The Theory of Harmonial Value, Slorach left the band and currently works for House Of Blues in Toronto. Slorach was replaced by Erik Hughes, no relation to 'Hippy'.

Moneen released their first two albums on Smallman Records but later signed on to Vagrant Records (although Smallman Records still distributes their records in Canada). In 2005 they released a split EP with Alexisonfire on Dine Alone Records where each band covered two of each others songs, plus released a demo of their own. Their new album, The Red Tree, will be released on April 11th in the U.S., featuring such songs as "Bleed and Blister" and "Don't Ever Tell Locke What He Can't Do".

In 2005 director Alex Liu followed the band through the recording process for their new album and recorded the whole thing on video. What resulted is entitled The Start To This May Be The End To Another. The release date has still not been set.

Moneen has toured with Brand New, Saves The Day, Reggie and the Full Effect, Choke, Alexisonfire, Braid, Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard, Senses Fail and many, many more as well as being a part of festivals such as Wake Stock and The Brampton Indie Arts Festival.
