| To add to luso's comment, I read in an interview with Ares in which he stated that Wolfheart was generally inspired by various female figures or ideals in Portugal. Alma Mater of course is about the mother land. | |

| Fernando Ribeiro once said this music represents the feeling he has about Portugal and Moonspell today. The verse in Portuguese stands for: Refusing the rest of the world / Proudly alone / Ancient glory, lay on us once more. This is a very patriotic song... I don't really agree with it, but it's Ribeiro's personal perspective. A great song from a great album made by a brilliant band | |
