| It's about a plutonic relationship, and the knowledge that, seeing as they're such good friends with you, they'd be with you, if it weren't for the way you look. | |

| I like the suggestions here, it's given me a new perspective. My own take is he is describing finding someone, growing older and looks fading, and all the time things never quite seeming perfect. Yet he describes his heart always being open, so there's a sense of long term love for this person. A beautiful song however you want to see it. | |

| I think that the meaning of this song is clear, you can just read the lyrics or listen the words in this song and you can figure out what it's saying. I think everyone have a platonic love in their life, or maybe it's not a platonic love, but it's someone that you think that is impossible to reach... I think I have felt that way a couple of times, and this song is what you want in that momment, you want to kiss her, and make her see that even you are not what she is looking for physically, you can give her love and make her feel that you care... | |

| I zigzagged all over America And I cannot find A safety haven Say, would you let me cry on your shoulder I've heard that you'd try anything twice One of the best lines I've ever heard, Also if it's about Nancy Sinatra, It's ironic that she covered it. | |

| "With "Let Me Kiss You" we're back to more subtle and muted territory once more, but also the album's biggest grower. Over a distinctly Marr-ish arrangement Morrissey once more does self-deprecating yearning like no-one else, craving attention while knowing he will be "physically despised". Once more, at least in song, age seems only to add to his beguiling neurosis. He may reside in California, but he still revels in doing that most un-American of things; celebrating life's losers." - Ben Granger | |

| Well, this song is really sad. I do not understand how such a handsome devil as Morrissey is able to be so self-deprecating! He is gorgeous! | |

| I saw him live recently. He did this song, and as he sang the words "And you see someone that you physically despise" he opened his shirt and exposed his body...which is in no way despicable! I don't think it is so much about him not being able to get the one he wants as it is about him hating his own body. He hates it so much that in order for him to be intimate with someone he wants that person to close their eyes and think of someone else. Ha...I bet there are plenty of people (who actually think of Morrissey when they kiss someone else! | |

| yeah...I agree febird...this is a definite grower...such a beautiful song. Morrissey expresses his sentiments so beautifully. I totally know the feeling...being in love with someone who you know will never really be with you because of the way you look. love it. I don't understand what bloody problems Morrissey has with himself however...he's sex on legs :) | |

| if you don't know what this song is about, then you shouldn't be listening to morrissey in the first place. i mean come on... it's all about his self-deprecating and introspective point of views... he'd probably never ask a girl to kiss him, but here he uses this to further emphasize his miserablism. | |

| I don't think he hates his body - I mean - come on - people who hate their body don't slowly peel their own shirts off constantly for hours. The guy is almost a stripper... 'Sex on legs' is definitely true :-)))) | |
