| I'm gonna go with the relationship side of things, because there's really very little that seems to have anything to do with "cutting" oneself.. Basically, how I see it, this song is dealing with a relationship between two people, specifically close friends, that ends up developing into a much closer bond. However, for fear of "losing the game" (losing eachother's friendship completely) they decide to hold one another as what they are now, without risking such a thing, though it pains them to do so. | |

| As much as it pains me to see it, I think you're right about the cutting. Even the "rain" strikes me as a blood analogy now. And in that case, the chorus probably refers to him having a history of cutting and the ultimate realization that it could end badly which caused him to stop, even though the urges keep coming. | |

| I'm pretty sure this song is about cutting, even though it does seem too obvious. It's about being stuck in a sort of self-destructive phase. He really doesn't wanna stop, or be put out of his misery. I think it's about being too scared, or probably just too apathetic to commit suicide. Like, "it'd be good to just die, but I'm afraid of change and it's too much of a hassle" He'd much rather just continue cutting, cos it's easy, it makes him feel better and he's probably addicted (SI is addictive) I think this is my favourite verse: "Though we feel let down By the same old autumn breathing, Winter's curse is just around the bend" -i think autumn is just sort of a neutral season, and winter is cold and harsh. So his life is "autumn" before he hurts himself and then it's a more exciting "winter" ... I wish i had come up with a better way of explaining that :P Anyway...the only part i dont really understand is the "say something, finally we're alone" part. Makes me think of a sort of wannabe Romeo and Juliet thing, with 2 people sitting in a room with razor blades, waiting for something to interupt their joint-suicide :P | |

| I'm almost sure that this song is about them getting tired of being what everyone else wants them to be, what they were designed to be. With our hands all tied, To the blades of their design, Means that they are tied down to what everyone wants them to be, and that they have to be that day after day. Oh, and that's also why they feel like rain, because rain just does the same thing over and over again. | |

| I don't think this song has anything to do with cutting. I think it's about being depressed and everything is repative and everyone wants him to be who they want him to be and he just wants to achieve his hopes but they have been pushed aside by everyone else. "We love that game, but we never play 'Cause we will lose and we wanna stay The way we are, the way we've been For far too long" I think is about wanting to take a chance, do something different. But everyone wants to stay the same because they are afraid of what might happen. | |

| okay, the cutting thing is wayyy to obvious. I highly doubt thats what Justin meant by; "With our hands all tied, To the blades of their design, We are armed and ready to commit this crime" although, im not sure what thoose lines from the song means, i do think make out kids is about physical lust. | |

| not sure about this but: We love that game, but we never play 'Cause we will lose and we wanna stay The way we are, the way we've been For far too long this made it sound kind of like a song about two people who liked each other but knew they wouldnt work out, so they didnt push the relationship because they dont want to ruin it | |

| i really dont think its about a relationship at all. and i do think he mentions cutting but thats not really what the songs about. i was suprised no one said this cuz its pretty obvious its just about depression. im pretty sure hes just talking about how when you're depressed everything is just repetitive like just going through the motions of the day and not really feeling anything. and when he talks about the "game" i think hes just referring to life in general like getting out there and trying to be happy and help yourself. quite a few of theyre songs are about depression, ocd, and anxiety. i love mcs cuz hardly any bands are so honest and talk abt stuff like that | |

| "And we feel like rain, When the words all sound the same, In the lifeless corners of this empty frame" Things are hitting me. But everything is just the same as it's always been. I can't stand it "Though we feel let down, On the table, hard of breathing, Winter's curse is just around the bend" Thought it feels like things will never change, it can get cold..worse "With our hands all tied, To the blades of their design, We are armed and ready to commit this crime" Those lines are deffinetly about cutting the emtiness makes then want to feel, so they prepare "We love that game, but we never play 'Cause we will lose and we wanna stay The way we are, the way we've been For far too long" We can't give up on what we know. Won't take chances, no matter how much we might love to. Because we're afraid of change. even though we never had anything in the first place. "From the falsest smile, To the fear of death is why, The pain reminds us that we're still alive" Cutting again. The pain they inflict on themeselvs tells then they are alive. That they can feel. They arn't void of all emotions. "With our hopes on hold, And our lack of interest exposed, All hands damage our determined eyes." We've lost all we've wanted. given up on hope. Stopped caring. Nothing helps, every attempt leaves us further damadged. "With the lines all drawn, And the red begins to creep, It's way from boredom twards apathy" Again...cutting. The cutts are starting to bleed. Because apathy has replaced empathy. "Say something" " finally we're alone" "Alright" " is there anyone out there at all?" "Say something" " finally we're alone" "How 'bout a phone call now?"" this is a conversation. The two apathetic lovers who had given up on hope and are afraid of change feel they are alone together in this pain they feel. They search for support in eachother "We love that game but we never play 'Cause we will lose and we wanna stay The way we are?" And we still dont' want to change it. It's to scary a though "And we feel like rain, When the words all sound the same, As the curtain closes on another day " And it never changes...every day remains the same. | |

| This song to me means that they really like eachother but know that it could never work out between them. My Favorite line in the song is: "Say something finally we're alone Alright is there anyone out there at all? Say something finally we're alone How 'bout a phone call now?" They are finally together alone and its akward for them and the how bout a phone call line means that he wants someone or something to interept so he doesn't have to be in the awkward situation anymore. | |

| i have 2 ideas what this song means the first one is waht everyone else said how 2 friends like each other and want to get together but dont think it will work out. the 2nd is these 2 people like eachother but they r already in a relationship and to them it feels like a relationshit but they dont want to mess things up and dont want to break up to make other people unhappy. they love playing the game of having a relationship and they know if they play "the game" with each other they will lose the other people in their lives and they are too use to that to change just like how rain never changes its always wet | |

| This song reminds me of stagnation versus your own mind. Like, wanting to do something really bad, but being afraid to do it 'cause what if? You don't want to risk what you have if there's a chance that you could lose it all. Thus, you allow things to just go as they have been all along, wanting more, but too scared and/or lazy to make things different. | |

| Justin's lyrics are so smart and so beautiful. I think that it's about two people in a relationship who are forced to be what everyone thinks they should be and they're bored with it but at the same time they don't want to change the way they are at the moment. MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK ROCKS!!!! | |

| this song reminds me of two friends who have more than friendly feelings, but never do anything about it. i mean, obviously it seems as if the entire song is about wanting to live life, but never really going out of the ordinary and breaking free of the herd on your own to actually live, just following the crowd all day long, day after day. but for me.. i relate that to having feelings for a friend but knowing things are easy and unawkward and uncomplicated without just admitting my feelings and it's just easier to live life day after day and never change anything, but always want to. wow, that's confusing. kinda get my drift though? | |
