Lyrics:
I’ll start this broken heart
I’ll fix it up so it will work again
Better than before
Then I’ll star in a mystery
A tragic tale of all that’s yet to come
Fingers crossed there will be love
But I get carried away with every day
And every fantasy
the deeper the wound,
the harder i swoon and wish that that was me
So much to say
But no words to convey
The loneliness building with each passing day
But I’m getting used to it, you have to get used to it
I’ll devise the best disguise
A brand new look and take them by surprise
They’ll never guess what’s not inside
I’ll express myself with ease,
With confidence and character complete
With fingers crossed they’ll talk to me
But I get carried away with every page
In every magazine
The cheaper the thrill
the deeper I fill my head with blasphemy
So much to say
But No words to convey
The loneliness building with each passing day
But I’m getting used to it, you have to get used to it
I’ll destroy this useless heart
I’ll fuck it up so it’ll never beat again
Not just for me but for anyone
But I get carried away
with every phrase and made up melody
The longer I hide behind these lies,
The more I disintegrate
So much to say
But no words to convey
The loneliness building with each passing day
But I never get used to it, you just have to live with it

I think that it's "I'll devise the best disguise A brand new look and take them by surprise They'll never guess what's not inside" That's what I heard at least... But this is making me so excited for their new CD! I can't wait!

I think it's a lot simpler in it's meaning than some other MCS songs. I like it and I think everyone can relate to feeling like that at some point. But we all find love in the end, right? Well I'd like to hope so :)

"With every phrase and made up melody" It sounds more like he's saying "malady" Like a disease or condition. A broken heart can be referred to as a malady sometimes (not really literally a disease though). I could see it making sense either way though, melody or malady.

Easy-- It's about a guy who's broken his heart over and over again because he's looking for love so hard. When his heart's broken, he's just looking for stuff to fill the void until he can get back on his feet. Honestly (I'm a wuss), I nearly cried listening to this song. The only thing that stopped the waterworks was me being around people and the cheerful beat... Kudos to MCS for hitting a homerun with this single =].

It's about that phase that you go through right after you've been broken up with. It's hard because everyone tells you that you just have to get used to it but you just don't. You fantasize about being happy again in a kind of delusional way, you try to hide how you really feel by putting on a confident expression or changin how you look, and then you try to find a way to get rid of the pain. And in the end you just end up angry with yourself.

Yep fallingangel, much like Saves The Day, MCS is great at singing some really, really sad lyrics, but putting them in some very catchy songs. This is one of my personal favorites from MCS. I'm looking forward to the new album.

i can see why you guys would think it's malady, but i think melody makes more sense a song is comprised of phrases of melodies and the lies he hides behind could be that the songs he writes or plays are happy and upbeat while on the inside he feels like a wreck

easy Meaning It's about wanting to be in love, or to have someone to love. Maybe from after a bad past relationship or because hes never been inlove before which is why he talks about his lonliness and uselessness what do you think?

i agree with each of you. i too think that it's a great sad song, but under the cover of an upbeat catchy tune. i adore mcs so much. i'm very happy with the first single and hope the rest of the record will be just as wonderful, if not better!

Yeah, I think he does say "malady". Which means, in the context of "made up malady" he keeps thinking that there's something terribly wrong with him, since his girlfriend left him or since he can't find true love. He just wants to mess up his heart so it will never cause him any pain again. This is actually a pretty sad song hidden behind a catchy chorus and melody, like most of MCS's songs. It's great =]

maybe it's about someone who broke his heart, and now he's just trying everything to fix it - all sorts of dates and putting on a self-confident front.

I love this new single. To me... this song means... basically, the title says it, it's about someone with a broken heart. Someone who got dumped. "I'll start this broken heart/I'll fix it up so it will work again/Better than before" For someone that got dumped-- after time passes, you just get very optimistic & believe what everyone is saying--how things will get better & your heart will eventually mend. You develop hope & how love will come again. "Fingers crossed there will be love" Hoping that that broken heart will get fixed, someone will come along & have a new relationship with them... "But I get carried away/With every day and every fantasy/The deeper the wound/The harder I'll swoon/ And wish that that was me" Sometimes, in the process of getting over someone that just dumped you... you STLL get your sad moments & you 'get carried away' with old memories or 'every fantasy' (the "what ifs" or things you wished happened). You still wish that you were in that/a relationship... "So much to say/But no words to convey" Self-explanatory. Having so many thoughts/words to that person that broke your heart or whatever, but no way to really word it. "The loneliness building with each passing day" When things don't get any better, there's just more loneliness. "But I'm getting used to it/You'll have to get used to it" After a while of being dumped & being single, you do have to tell yourself to 'get used to it'---But only because you have no choice but to get used to it... "I'll devise the best disguise/A brand new look and take them by surprise/They'll never guess what's not inside" After a while, you're just sick of being miserable. You want a change for yourself because you can't really change how you're feeling inside-- loneliness & all. Creating a new look, appearing happy, pretending to be happy will "take [everyone] by surprise". "They'll never guess what's not inside": a broken heart. "I'll express myself with ease/With confidence and character complete/With fingers crossed they'll talk to me" Acting with confidence & appearing normal, not heartbroken, maybe approaching someone new and hoping that they won't reject you. "I'll destroy this useless heart/I'll fuck it up so it'll never beat again/Not just for me but for anyone" After being lonely & TRYING to stay optimistic, you still get those bad days... these lines scream anger and frustration to me. "The longer I hide behind these lies/The more I disintegrate" He doesn't like to "hide behind these lies", lies meaning pretending to be fine when he's really not. Perhaps he wants to stop pretending to be happy, but to be happy for real. "You never get used to it/You just have to live with it" Again, self-explanatory. Having a broken heart is something that will always bother you, but it's also something you must live with.
