I think it was written after smoking Salvia Divinorum. Every time I've smoked it I've wondered if this life here is really what is true. I actually think whomever wrote it is talking to the drug asking it if it's really a tool to another existance an existance that can be manipulated by yourself(like I myself have found myself asking this plant after hallucinating on it) or if it's just showing him that this life cannot be controlled no matter how hard he tries and to just let things be and do what's most important, love yourself no matter how fucked things get.

wats this ppl saying that it's about alother reality or dimension??? ever heard of the word analogy by singing about a mirror... are you a tool? can i step through? are you my brother yoy look like me. the line thats gets me thinking is this: do you reflect me or do i reflect you... and this line is what the whole song is about...taking a look at who you are...hating yourself, wanting to escape the world...

To me, this song is about how you would be in a different reality. Asking if you would be how you are, or would you be completely different. And I think durirng the song they keep hinting he is happy with himself so he is curious on how things might be in a different life.

its a song to question the possibility of an alternate reality you retards... > Are you a tool? > can i step through > To find another plane, or just a shadow of a man > Are you my brother, or you look like me > Trapped inside another world > My lost twin ...the song shows the hatred the person has for the idea that there could be an alternate reality reflected in the mirror and that the reflections reality could be better!

mudvayne is sayin when u look into a mirror u see a reflection of yourself, supposedly, but he is asking what if the so called reflection is actually not the reflection and you yourself is the reflection.

I agree with most of what you all are saying, but I think he's trying to get you to question your own existence. He's saying that perhaps everybody we see every day is just a reflection. Maybe YOU are just a Shadow of a Man, and when you look in the mirror, maybe you are seeing the real world.
