| I think its about having meaningless sex with strangers. He knows its a bad thing to do but it just feels so good that he con't stop. This probably completly wrong but thats what this song says to me. | |

| i think he might be in love with a girl who doesn't love him back.hence: '...bringing me down, making my heart feel sore 'cause it's good...' She might know that he loves her and make fun of him because of it.Anyone? by the way a guy i know sent me a valentines' card last valentines' with the lyrics of the song in it and then after he wrote ''i think this is pretty self - explanitory'' afterward. i found out who it was and we've been going out ever since! | |

| Why hasn't anyone mentioned rape yet? "passing by you light up my darkest skies" He passes by some girl, in the hallways or something like that, and finds her beautiful. "you'll take only seconds to draw me in" He's easily drawn to her. Maybe she's trying to seduce him. "so be mine and your innocence i will consume" He wants to take her innocence. Maybe not rape, but she'd be getting more than expected. Like she didn't expect it to go sexual. "hold your hands up to your eyes again hide from the scary scenes, suppress your fears" Hide from what he is doing, his act of forcefulness scares her. | |

| I thought Matt's groupies days were over. hmm. Anyway, groupies aren't all that innocent anyway. They know what their doing. They go in their to fuck the guy. I think it's about his Italian girlfriend. Dark shines - dark hair, maybe. The song has similar themes to Bliss - might be the same girl. | |

| Been transfixed by Muse for quite some time, now... I finally went out and bought all the Muse albums I could find, so far I've managed to grab Absolution, Origins of Symmetry and Black Holes and Revelations. Anyways! I'm a very, very weird individual and that's probably why I adore Muse so much. I have a huge fetish (for lack of a better term) for vampires. Not in a sleezy, depressing way, but in a dark and romantic way. A vampire as a misunderstood soul... Er... Well, lack of soul, who is helped by a kind-hearted girl in his time of need, draining her blood and staying with her to make sure she's fine... Well, I'm rambling, but the point is, while I severely doubt the song's premise is based on this, I love to envision such a scene in my mind when I listen to this song. | |

| I think it is about him beng very atracted to this innocent girl(perhaps virgin, and younger than him), and he wants to sleep with her. He knows she can't possibly resist if he tries so seduce her. I think he is the dark one. A very sexy song. And the piano part before the refrain is just incredibly great. | |

| I always felt it was about growing up with people from childhood. It sort of makes me sad, because i'm in a transitional stage right now, where i don't see the people i've grown up with since 5 years of age everyday anymore, this song makes me think about that. makes me nostalgic for all the times we spent, when we "had no fear, or sense of time." | |

| Meh, I reckon you could take it more generally than the groupies idea. It's basically how, when somebody makes you feel good about yourself, you want to possess them all the more. Eventually, your own actions bring you down, while destroying their innocence. | |

| I think Dark Shines is about a girl who is all dark and moody and is very tempting for Matt. She seems like she hides a dark secret which makes her even more desirable. She might be young, due to the line "So be mine, and your innocence I will consume" It's a toughie. It's a brilliant song. The lead bits seem to go on forever :P. | |

| Hmmm well I had a COMPLETELY different take on it, when I hear the chorus " Dark shines, bringing me down, making my heart feel sore, cos it's good" I thought it was about a girl (or guy), who is really drawn to a guy (or girl) who is a bit (or a lot I wouldn't know) depressed or suicidal but it's that very fact that draws that person to them. The girl/boy wants to sort the other out and 'make them better' but in trying to do that they end up bringing themselves down and it causes them pain. They wont give up on it however because they love that person too much, even tho the relationship isnt really helping them. I'm not sure where the whole consuming innocence part fits into what i wrote above but this song kinda reminds me of my ex because of whats written above. | |
