The REAL Godfat Average |

| i love the studio version with the bass and drum rhythms. it seems so... alive. the whole 'why don't you sleep with someone who'll protect you bit' maybe cos the girl has been getting around while with him, and he's frustrated as he knows that he would be there for her all the time, and all these other men just use her. now they have split, and shes upset for whats she's done but cant change 'tired of fighting yourself' and she thinks that hes just left out there in the big bad world, but although he dislikes her, he is still there for her 'shame on you for thinking you're all alone, if you want i'll make you wish you were.' almost as though although hes through with her, he knows how unstable she is and doesnt have the heart to leave her to get hurt, even if she wont listen to his advice... | |

| i hated this song when i first heard it, and thought it was possibly their worst song, compared to 'in your world' ....but by listening to the lyrics and how it relates to the music do now believe that it is a great song! i love every muse song | |

| Terror booty. He had a crush on a girl he was close to - a friend or something. Then something huge happens (they recorded it in NY post-9/11 so no prizes for guessing what THAT was) and now she's all messed up. She has no direction, so he doesn't feel so much for her any more. BUT the irony is that he's as mixed up as she is, otherwise he wouldn't be feeling angsty at her for sleeping around - he still thinks she'd be better off with him. Those lyrics ^ are wrong, by the way. Shame on you for thinking You're an exception We're all to blame Crashing down to earth Wasting and burning out, yeah Fading like a dead star Harm is coming your way Yeah it's coming your way You used to be everything to me But now you're tired of fighting Tired of fighting Fighting yourself Shame on you for thinking You're all alone If you want I'll make you wish you were Failing to impress Why can't you sleep with Someone who'll protect you? Harm is coming your way Yeah, it's coming your way You used to be everything to me But now you're tired of fighting Tired of fighting Fighting yourself | |

| This is about 9/11 and how after it, everyone was really quick to point the blame at each other when it should've been at themselves. It's about how afterwards, everyone started getting a bit more humble and appreciative of everything.. and how they got scared: Why can't you sleep with Someone who'll protect you, yeah The realisation with these lines is that no-one can protect you from death. | |

| i havent heard this song because u live in a culturally isolated, deserted, black hole country (australia) and the single isn't coming out until next year. its heartbreaking because muse is my all time favourite band and i long to hear this song!!! | |
