2nd Verse:

staying awake to chase a dream
tasting the air you're breathing in
i know i won't forget a thing

all of the love we threw away
all of the hopes we cherished fade
making the same mistakes again
making the same mistakes again

Chorus:

and i'll feel my world crumbling
i'll feel my life crumbling
i'll feel my soul crumbling away
and falling away
falling away with you

3rd Verse:

all of the love we've left behind
watching the flash backs intertwine
memories i will never find
memories i will never find

this is my 1st tab, so i hope you enjoy it!

this song is about getting away from people who try to drag you down to keep you at their level and make them feel better about themself because they have low self esteem

Its amazing how brilliant this group is. I only recently became a fan but got absolutely hooked. They're addictive. That guy can do so many things with his voice. They can bring out emotions you never thought you had. Well, they do in me anyway.

this song used to be one of my least favourite from the album but the more i listen to it, the better it becomes in my opinion :-) it's pretty straightforward, but musically it's a delight.

I used to be able to connect well with this song, except for the timing of the events he's talking. The majority of the song is set during the time when he wrote the song, but in the second he says "watching the flash backs intertwine," hinting of the flashback in the song. In the fifth stanza it goes into the past tense with a flashback of when he was "staying awake to chase a dream..." I think at least the first line of the next stanza is also a flashback but that is up for interpretation. Then this song goes back to the original time setting. What a great song, lyrically and musically.

This has to be the best slow song by Muse, other than Ruled By Secrecy. Its amazing. Just the feeling of it makes you want to just burst out and dance and sing. Its wonderful.

The song is about the end of a relationship. 'Things coming to an end' was a pervading theme of the album.

I think that the song represents the final ending to a relationship... one that has been dragged out, on and on forever... It reminds me of 2 friends who broke up and then spent the night sleeping next to each other. 2 people who belong together, but are terible for each other.

no comments on the most beautiful muse song of all? I guess I'll have to comment. To me, this song is about a relationship that has ended, and one that the singer wishes hadn't ended. It seems like he can't understand why it was over, and he would do whatever he could to fix it because his world is "crumbling" without it.

I'd just like to say that i think its about someone who he used be with, obviosly loved/love and it was probably a long term relationship.. But I belive he is talking about how he is still great friends with her and he is just stating that he's glad that they will always be there for eachother. and when this part starts, "i feel my world crumbling" i think that is a flash back, hence the flash back sound that the keyboard is making, but im not sure what time the flash back is of.

This song IS in fact about Muse's live in the town of Teignmouth, when they were just starting out. Matt talks about the emotional tax it took on him personally; "I was calling your name But you would never hear me sing," implying that the town didn't encourage him and never actually gave him a chance. Now he's saying you weren't there when I needed you, it's too late now to make things right. I've found what I need, and it's not you anymore.

yeh i agree with both of u, skunker in particular- maybe a "fuck u" to everyone who didn't believe in him when he was starting out in the music profession....and now he's succesful they all wanna know and insist they always believed in him- but he's saying it's too late, ie. "too late i already found what i was looking for" that's the great thing about muse u can interpret the music in so many ways
