Muse - Ruled By Secrecy
Written by Matthew Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard

Tuning: Dropped D (DADGBE)

This is my first tab. I tried to make a guitar version of this amazing song. It's not very
acurate and it sounds a lot better on the piano, but...
PS: I used an acoustic guitar. I have no electric guitar. Bwahhaha.

-Verse

1st guitar

E |---8------------8------------------------
B |-----9-8----8-9----9-8----8-9------------
G |---------10------------10----------------
D |-----------------------------------------
A |-----------------------------------------
D |-----------------------------------------

Repeat... That's the main thingy. After a while, a little bit before Matt starts singing,
a second guitar (?) comes in.

2nd guitar

E |------------------------------------------------------
B |--------1-----------1-----------1-----------1---------
G |------1---1-------1---1-------1---1-------1---1-------
D |----3-------3---3-------3---3-------3---3-------3-----
A |--3-----------3-----------3-----------3---------------
D |------------------------------------------------------

*
E |------------------------------------------------------
B |--------1-----------1-----------1-----------1---------
G |------1---1-------1---1-------1---1-------1---1-------
D |----3-------3---3-------3---3-------3---3-------3-----
A |--3-----------3-----------3-----------3---------------
D |------------------------------------------------------

E |------------------------------------------------------
B |--------1-----------1-----------1-----------1---------
G |------0---0-------0---0-------0---0-------0---0-------
D |----2-------2---2-------2---2-------2---2-------2-----
A |--3-----------3-----------3-----------3---------------
D |------------------------------------------------------

E |------------------------------------------------------
B |--------1-----------1-----------1-----------1---------
G |------0---0-------0---0-------0---0-------0---0-------
D |----1-------1---1-------1---1-------1---1-------1----- Kinda hard :|
A |--3-----------3-----------3-----------3---------------
D |------------------------------------------------------

E |------------------------------------------------------
B |--------1-----------1-----------1-----------1---------
G |------0---0-------0---0-------0---0-------0---0-------
D |----2-------2---2-------2---2-------2---2-------2-----
A |--3-----------3-----------3-----------3---------------
D |------------------------------------------------------
*

Repeat the stuff between the 2 "*".

-Chorus
Now, I haven't tabbed the chorus yet, but i'll try to soon. Lets move to the piano thingy.

-Interlude

E |------4-4-5-6-5-4---
B |------6-6-6-6-6-6---
G |------5-5-5-5-5-5---
D |--3----------------- (x2)
A |--3-----------------
D |--3-----------------

E |------3-3-3-3-4-3---
B |------5-5-5-5-5-5---
G |------5-5-5-5-5-5---
D |--2----------------- (x2)
A |--3-----------------
D |--2-----------------

E |------3-3-4-6-4-3---
B |------4-4-4-4-4-4---
G |------5-5-5-5-5-5---
D |--1----------------- (x2)
A |--3-----------------
D |--1-----------------

E |------3-3-3-3-4-3---
B |------5-5-5-5-5-5---
G |------5-5-5-5-5-5---
D |--2----------------- (x2)
A |--3-----------------
D |--2-----------------

I suggest you use another guitar to do the power chords. It's a lot easier. And you must
let them ring. So it's really recommended.
That's it. Then you play the chorus, which i haven't tabbed, but must be something like
the verse.

Tee hee, my first tab. Really proud of it ^.^ Hope you find it useful... Anything... E-mail
me... Sno0t@hotmail.com
PS: I do need the chorus. If you happen to tab it before me, please, e-mail it to me, so i
can add it to this tab. My first tab. Tee hee ^^

It's based on a book called Rule By Secrecy by Jim Marrs. I know cos you can see Matt reading it in the making-of documentary on the Absolution DVD. The book is about the people and organisations that secretly rule our lives, hence the name. Matt's really into all that conspiracy stuff, like about the Origin of Symmetry, which is actually a theory about the universe. Don't believe in all that myself but amazing song (and genius band) all the same.

I feel that this song is about the uprising of the people. Think of it like this.. we have reached a point to where mankind is being ruled by something that could create some apocalyptical world again, and they're failing at creating it because the people are aware and won't stand for it. Eliminating the sickness and the 'ruling by secrecy' as the people rule, rather the ruler. And at the end of the album, the people understand and create their world in awareness.

I fell in love with Muse by listening to this song. I literally listened to it over and over and over while sitting at the piano and attempting to play it, just because I loved it so much. I believe it is correct - it's based on Rule by Secrecy as citizenerased19 said. Ironically enough, I borrowed this book from a friend before I even knew that the song and this book were connected. This song is amazing and beautiful, definitely one of my favorite songs.
