Just a point that video actually ends that they arrive on Earth as can be seen from the big ben etc. I think the point of the video is in making the viewer think the band are trying to escape Earth to avoid the ice age but then show at the end that they were escaping from somewhere else, i.e. they had already abandonned earth. Which is quite a simple idea, and more importantly little to do with the lyrics. I therefore dont think that using the video to analyse the lyrics works. I also dont think its to do with god, but who knows I could be wrong.

Great voice, great feelings ... a wonderful song ! I think this song talks about a crime against the beloved personn. My arguments ... "lips are turning blue", we commonly give blue color to the lips of drowned or dead people. "a kiss that can't renew", how kiss again a missing person ? "I only dream of you", just a dream because this love is impossible, the beloved one never loved the singer. "tiptoe to your room, a starlight in the gloom ", the singer walks stealthy during the night near the bed of the beloved "I only dream of you and you never knew ", again the singer express his hidden love, next the beloved during the night in her room, what a strange situation !! strange or ... chilly ? "sing for absolution", absolution is not for a common mistake, but for a sin ... or a murder ? "I will be singing, falling from your grace" a reference to God to ask for absolution ? "there's nowhere left to hide", no place to hide for his crime because the eye of God is everywhere or just because the singer feels guilty and can't escape his own torment. "in no one to confide", the singer couldn't reveal his fault because of the weight of his crime "the truth runs deep inside", the proof of his crime is deep inside the ground, the ocean or just deep inside his mind ? "and will never die", the act of the singer will never be corrected, redressed "our wrongs remain unrectified", no human judgement, no correction for his crime "and our souls won't be exhumed", the proof of the crime, the body of the beloved, will not be exhumed, so the truth will not be find BUT we have "souls", the final crime is maybe a suicide, and in this way, the singer joins her beloved in the ocean When I listen this song, thnigs are really clear for me. Don't hesitate to comment this interpretation !

I can't help but think that this song is about necrophilia.

i agree with ziggy... an absolutely wonderful song... very hypnotic. the singer is longing for what used to be, unfortunately they can't get past their mistakes "our wrongs remain unrectified"
