Muse City Of Delusion Solo Guitar Tab

City Of Delusion Bass Tab
Here's the trumpet solo near the end of the song.
It's easy to play and is a great little solo, wonderfully different.
Enjoy!

Velox could be onto something, alot of the lyrics from Blackholes and Revelations refer to politics.

my name is mike and a 21 yr old from england. i don't think this song concentrates on politics as much as the rest of the album but it still incorporates their influences on us in it. to me this song is about the illusion of reality that we create for ourselves. it is about the 'single consciousness' that all humans are a seperated piece of, and the world around us made from mass which really when boiled down to 'empty' atoms is really just a holographic image made from energy as opposed to light as it is in holograms. we are all manipulated together in our collective consciousness to believe that this condensed energy is really solid and therefore we manifest that reality. the governments and the powers above our governments create our world view through media and subliminals which TELL us what to think therefore creating the world that they want to exist when really the world we want is a competely different thing altogether. Stay away from me Build a fortress and shield your beliefs -the people displaying ignorance when told what i have just written and remaining separated from the 'divine' consciousness as the idea conflicts with their personal belief system Touch the divine As we fall in line - realisation of the single consciousness as we re-connect with it and return finally to nature and leave behind free will. Can I believe When I dont trust - we can change the nature of the world surrounding us simply by believing what is there collectively and manifesting it, put simply observer dependent reality (check out quantum physics) which can be manipulated easily by things we see on the news. here he is saying he questions the official storys and the viewpoints being forced onto nations by news and other media. All your theories turn to dust - official versions can be broken down extreemly easily I choose to hide From the All Seeing Eye - realising that a large amount of the population drinking in the manufactured viewpoints as he decides to rebell from the illuminati's agenda Destroy this city of delusion And break these walls down - realise that this reality doesen't exist without our observation and collective manifestation of it and finally change it for the better. if you have ever seen and understood 'the matrix' movie it is similar to the chldren bending spoons, don't try and bend the spoon, realise the spoon doesn't exist and bend 'our mind' i also like Luckymuse's explanation of this song as it does fit quite well please follow this post with any critisisms and im sure i will be able to answer well. thanks for reading

Isn't "Just to find to my reasons" wrong ? I thought he said "Justify my reason(s)", but I may be wrong.

dawntreader has it. there's authority (the government it seems) and it's lying to you. but people don't like the thought so they build walls to protect themselves from the conspiracy theories "destroy this city of delusion" wake up to reality good one with the oil thing. so that verse is him talking to people in general. "you live and let die" is about peoples apathy to the war

for me this song is alot about religion: Stay away from me Build a fortress and shield your beliefs saying how many religious people hide away and dont think about what they believe. they also hide from other people questioning thier beliefs. in my opinion you cant criticise people about their faith in todays society, and that need to be changed. Touch the divine As we fall in line there are 2 reasons for religions in my eyes; control and explaining the unexplicable. since science does a better job of the latter than religion ever did, that just leaves control. so 'fall into line' is basicly saying that if you just follow religious teaching blindly, you are being controled. Can I believe When I dont trust All your theories turn to dust when you stop trusting the people who are telling you all this shit, you find thatr all their theories turn to nothing. Destroy this city of delusion And break these walls down i think this is a rallying call for atheists to challenge religious poeple more, break the walls they put up if you will. i think the rest of the song moves on a bit from religion, but i'll think a bit more and see if i can find and more religious references

i agree, this song is about american politics. "The city of delusion" is DC.; "fortress your beliefs/ touch the divine" references religious conservatives; the "All Seing Eye" i think has to do with the wire tapping; "all your theories turn to dust "is obviously iraq and the non-existent weapons of mass destruction; and the 4th stanza is a reference to the present war

I read a really good analysis that someone made in a Muse forum, connecting this song with the artwork of the cover of the album, Ill try quote some of it. If we ignore the clouds in the sky and identify the red desert they're sitting in as Mars, they are the knights of Cydonia. They have little horses on the table. This suggests that they represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse, adapted from Biblical times to reflect the problems in our society. Each man represents: religious extremism, gouvernment control, energy crisis, and social injustice. They are playing poker, which: a. is a nod to Muse's newfound fondness of it on the MTVu tour b. implies that they're just passing the time before the world ends. If you go around the table, starting with the man on the left and quoting City of Delusion you get this: "I will avenge....and justify my reasons with your blood" That guy is covered in religious figures and has a set of set of blinkers. Obvious message being that religious extremists are blind to the bigger picture. Then the next man whose face we can't see, goes with thhis fraction of the song "I choose to hide from your all-seeing eye". This guy is wearing a suit covered in eyes, representing the 'all-seeing eye' of Illuminati conspiracy theories. Brilliantly, we can't see his face, so we can't identify who's really in control. Now the guy sitting on the right "Do not deny......that you live and let die." The man on the right is fat and wearing a gold suit, implying wealth and representing the financial inequality of modern society. Interestingly, he's looking to the Illuminatus for his cues which would make it clear that there's a connection between the very rich and those who are controlling the world. Finally there's the man on the other side of the table. "You'll not rest or settle for less...until you guzzle and squander what's left." He's wearing a suit made of little shiny things. They could be mirrors, a symbol of our vain consumer culture, but I think they're little solar panels. Very symbolically Mr Energy Crisis is staring the Illuminatus (ie our leaders) in the face but the Illuminatus is looking past him. In the context of the poker game the Knights seem to be playing, he's challenging the Illuminatus to do something. This would be very in keeping with the band's references to peak oil. I totally agree with what this guy thinks, I quoted it from that forum. Its really well thought and totally makes sense :)

i think it's about american-style goverments. Can't believe What I dont trust All your theories turn to dust I choose to hide From your seeing eyes stuff like conspiracies, cover-ups etc. and the last two lines could be either spying on us in general or more specifically maybe the Star Wars program? You will not rest Or settle for less To you guzzle and squander whats left Do not deny That you live and let die i cant help but think "guzzle and squander" refers to petrol (oil for americans). rest is pretty self-explanatory.
