this song can be interpreted either negatively or positively. i actually think it's both. this is probably because the song title itself represents glory- meaning something you feel positive about due to a negative obstacle you went through. either way- it's an amazing song.

Actually, before you even mentioned Radiohead this song reminded me of Lucky. A guy thinking about being lucky when he is really not. Just like in this song where a guy thinking about being glorious when he is really not. Plus from Lucky a line goes "It's gonna be a GLORIOUS day!"

This is an AWESOME song. The best one on the album after Invincible. I especially love the very beginning and ending, with the really quick - whatever they are, guitar? - fading in and out. Probably the happiest song they've ever done, too.

This song is incredible. Why does it have to be so difficult to find?

Right this is my general thoughts about the song :) Ok turn the song up real loud and listen to the song closely - I really think the lyrics are actually "It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse Believes we could be, Glorious" http://www.musewiki.org/Glorious_%28song%29 = agrees with me I kind of agree more with the negativity thing and Synch's view. I think the "Rose-tinted view And satelites that compromise the truth" lyrics refer to Matt Bellamys negative views on war and politics in the world right now. He's made several references to the government spying on the public through satellites and how in general we can't trust our leaders. (e.g. Exo-politics) "Fully loaded satellites, Will conquer nothing but our minds" And yes, Matt is an atheist, and as he wrote the lyrics for this song, personally I think his meaning for "Faith, it drives me away But it turns me on Like a strangers love It rockets through the universe It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse Believes we could be Glorious" is actually about religious faith. As in I think when he says faith drives him away but turns him on, he means that as an atheist he maybe would like to believe in something yet can't for various reasons (I'm of this view religion wise). When he talks of it rocketing through the Universe and feeding the lies etc I think he's referring to all the religious wars in the Middle East that are occurring, and how each side believe they're fighting for and with their'true'god. The 'Believes we could be glorious' is just a general summary about faith I think- how those who have faith believe they're right, true, full of glory - or maybe that religion should be opening up human potential, not destroying it. (can't fully explain what I mean here but hopefully you get the drift) It's a brilliant song. My fav atm. I could be off my head and the song could be about a relationship sure (dunno why he'd randomly talk about satellites in it) but yup. I just think with the general direction of writing in Black Holes and Revelations and Matts increasing political wolrd views, that what I've suggested could form a large part of the meaning. Thanks for reading ^_^ Rock on muse!

This is a great song. I think it's all about believing, not necessarily in god or anything, just like believing in a cause or believing in someone or yourself. About how someone wants to believe, no matter what state they're in.

No one has commented on this song yet? Haven't figured out what the hell the song is about yet, but for a bonus track, it is friggin awesome. Reminds me a lot of Hysteria.

what an amazing song, i wouldn't usually describe a song as heavy as this one as 'pretty' but i can't help it, it actually IS a really pretty song. as for the interpretation, like dschaefmuse, i think it's about hope, hope and potential to get where you want.

//my interpretation This song is negative not positive. "Satellites that compromise the truth" refers to how the government and mass media control and filter information to the people. Plus people are not totally in touch with all of the bad events going on in the world even when shown due to their "Rose-tinted view". People want war without knowing the entire truth or other side of the story and "A hopeless embrace" points out how they fail to take in all info "Faith...It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse" - people use their own ignorance and beliefs to oppress other religions, cultures, ethnicities, etc over and over throughout history. A modern example can be the battles in Africa or the Middle East. Others are the witch hunts and holocaust. So basically the people fighting feel they are "glorious" but truly they are not deserving of glory. It is already known that they question war/government/society and are not religious.

Oh just adding to that, the Japanese liner note lyrics actually say the lyrics for the song are 'Believes we could be glorious' Hopefully that clears things up!

my favourite verse is Rose-tinted view And satellites that compromise the truth I wanted more With the cuts and the bruises Touch my face A hopeless embrace I think the 'cuts and bruises' refer to emotional scars rather than physical. The person wants more, he/she wants love, the kind of love they haven't yet experienced. He wants to be touched but see's this is hopeless because he/she has been through so much sadness that they don't think they can feel anymore. Wonderful

This song is great, BUT am I the only one who noticed the lyrical rip-off/tribute to Radiohead's "My Iron Lung"? Muse have gotten enough flack for sounding like Radiohead that I can't believe they would open this song's chorus with: "Faith, it drives me away" When "My Iron Lung" begins with: "Faith, you're driving me away"

First of all the lyrics are wrong, so your interpretations are more than likely wrong. * Rose-tinted view And satellites that compromise the truth I wanted more With the cuts and the bruises Touch my face A hopeless embrace Faith, it drives me away But it turns me on Like a strangers love It rockets through the universe It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse We too could be Glorious I need to believe But I still want more With the cuts and the bruises Don't close the door On what you adore Faith, it drives me away But it turns me on Like a strangers love It rockets through the universe It fuels the lies, it feeds the curse we too could be Glorious * I think it is about curiosity for a person, someone you probably don't know well, and the potential for a relationship, although there may never be one.

in interviews leading up to the release of the new album, matt said that a lot of the songs would be about things like hope. I think this song is about hope. to me, it seems like whoever this is is involved in somekind of war or trouble ro adversity (rose tinted view) and has no hope for himself (touch my face a hopless embrace). he eventually finds faith and this reminds him not to let go of what he wants (dont close the door on what you adore). faith eventually leads him to be glorious.

heres a new outlook on the song: perhaps its about war? the 'we too could be glorious' could possibly be talking about him and his soldiers becoming heroes or becoming immortalised. the 'rose tinted view, and satellites that compromise the truth' could be talking about the media and the rest of the world downsizing how horrible war is, and that they dont understand. 'cuts and bruises' would be talking about him getting killed in the war, and it follows on into 'touch my face, a hopeless embrace' that he has tried to go to heaven, but relised that because he took part in the war he cant get there, hence 'hopeless'. i know muse are normally aethiest, but it could be what its about.
