43 from Mushroomhead
Tuning: AEADGBe but you don't need a 7 string for this song.
-I suggest writing down the order for this song, as riffs are thrown in over a lot, I
will write the order as I go. This song was a bit of a pain because of all the stuff
going on it it, but I think I did OK for it.

Intro 1 is all drums and synthesizer.

Intro 2, just give a slide down on your bottom 2 strings.

I have to agree with StoneKnotSiC666. It's probably about losing his mind over not being able to figure out what life is all about and which religion to follow (if any), and although he has given up believe in anything he cannot see (god), life still sucks, and he needs something to cling to, coz even the things he can actually see and proof (dog) don't make sense to him until he wonders whether even they aren't really see. so that's two black eyes... I don't know, but 43 might refer to the traveller's guide to the galaxy where 42 is the answer to the most important question in the world (the one about god, the world, and everything), but no one has even been able to find the right question. so here it would mean, this guy knows all the answers to be false AND doesn't know where to start finding the most important questions in his life. It really fucks him up so much, he can't even sleep anymore, let alone think straight. It's all different kinda thoughts intertwined, so I find it really hard interpreting Mushroomhead songs. They have almost the most puzzling lyrics around.

if you listen to then entire ending of the song it's actually quite funny God, dog . . . Agnostic, Insomniac, Dyslexic, I'm wide awake and I'm wondering if there is a dog . . that's the best line ever. However, if you guys are really looking to find meaning in these lyrics, (or any Mushroomhead song) you're thinking waaaay too hard. Many of the songs are pieced together from different things that Jeffrey Nothing and J Mann have written at different points in their lives, and simply are pieced together because they like the way that they flow.

no, you're right. it's simple, he's lost wondering if there is a god or not. i don't really like nu-metal that much but mushroomhead's lyrics are weird and i like weird stuff.

I was suprised I was able to pick out something so small, but I thought I would just share, one of the added samples in the longer version of the song is a clip from Silence of the Lambs. The sound clip that says "oh wait" is from the scene in silence when Clarice Starling is at Buffalo Bills house and asks him if he had seen a woman.

if the lyrics mean what I think they do, then I can really relate to this song, I'm at the same place in my life right now

It seems to me this song is about being the small voice of opposition against the majority of those who belive in and follow god. Anytime he tries to speak out against what is holy to everyone else, he is told to just shut up and except what they believe. Since he doesnt he is looked upon and something inferior. But he doesnt see himself that way, but rather someone who understands what things are really like. I dont know what the significance is of the number "43", probably some personal meaning to J-Mann or Jeffery Nothing.

There are two versions of this song. Their album XX has the "up to date, revamped" model of the song, however, they have several self-released cd's. The older song seem to have alot of -extras- added in, like a crowd at a baseball game, a preacher ranting, and many other joyful items that... well.. um... fill up time on the cd... heh

just so you know dog is god spelled backwards, I think it has something to do with people who beleive in god as dogs

"dyslexic I'm wide awake and I'm wondering if there is a dog" -Dyslexic...dog=god. There ya go...religion is at the heart of a lot of Mushroomhead songs, and this is one of them. Also my favorite song on the album. "calculating my miscalculations" -Seems like he's worried he's made the wrong decisions regarding religion...this is further supported by the end "God, dog, God, dog agnostic, insomniac" "Sighted blind, Braille is fine, two black eyes" -I think this is talking about how he just can't understand religion, and how anything will help because it's putting so much pain and stress on him. Now, as for the beginning...I have no idea, nor do I with the chorus. The rest of this could very easily be wrong, but since nobody has really tried to interpret it, in depth I thought I'd give it a try.

No. This song is about Jeff Hatix forming his ideas and beliefs about higher power and hoping he wasn't wrong.
