'Soon' by My Bloody Valentine (K.Shields)
TAB by Jon Eyre, scuw5@central.sussex.ac.uk
DISCLAIMER: This is by no means perfect...
To achieve a sound similar to that on 'Loveless', take the following
tab, add an Akai S9000 sampler, a load of compression, reverb and sundry
other effects, drums, bass, vocals, mix it in a pot, garnish lightly
with overdubs and and cook for 40 minutes at gas mark 6...
SOON

VERSE
The basic riff, which appears in the intro, and I suppose ought to be
called the verse:
D-4--4--4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-
A-4--4--4-4-4-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2- Repeat for a bit
E-2--2--2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-
CHORUS
By process of elimination, this bit must be the chorus. It's the bit
with vocals over the top of chord changes:
F#sus2 Esus2 F# Asus2 Bsus2 E F# Esus2 F#sus2 Esus2 F#
e----------------2----0-----2----0---2--------------------2--
B-----9-----7----2----0-----2----0---2---7-----9-----7----2-- Back
G-----11----9----3----2-----4----1---3---9-----11----9----3-- Into
D-----11----9----4----2-----4----2---4---9-----11----9----4-- The
A-----9-----7----4----0-----2----2---4---7-----9-----7----4-- Basic
E-----9-----7----2---------------0---2---7-----9-----7----2-- Riff
THE NOODLY FLUTE LINE BIT
Which isn't actually a flute, but either a sampled guitar or voice...
e-----9----11-------9---11-11-
B--11---11----11-11---11------
Make of that what you will. If anyone out there has *ANY* MBV tab,
puhhh-leeea-ssse-eeee send me a copy. Cheers.

| whoaaaaa... the backwards drum track, the clean guitar, the wicked little synthy-bit (which reminds me of spyro the dragon for some reason, heh).. & then, the collision with *that* wave of white noise.. whoa. | |

| I used to live in a larger city and had band practice in the suburbs. I would listen to this when coming back into town on the freeways at night. I've always felt that this was a great end to "Loveless" but didn't really fit in with the rest of the album and worked better on "Glider." The music is very driving and up-beat, but the lyrics are somewhat dark. I think it's about a violent type trying to convince a woman to come back to him. | |

| This album and this music reminds me of my home city Melbourne, Australia. I also reminds of my best friends. Loveless is truly a great album with such a unique sound. Why did My Bloody Valentine have to break up? They were such a good band. | |

| What an amazing, amazing song. I think this song has to do with one person being wary and uncertain about love, while the other is surrendering themself completely to the other with no fear. The euphoric sound of this song has a very rushing, "rollercoaster" feel to it, so I picture this relationship in the song being just that...an emotional rollercoaster. In that context, notice how sparse the happier, lilting parts are from each other in between those wide, disorienting squalls of noise. Just magnificent. | |

| I disagree with bocmaxima, I think this song fits perfectly and is a great album ender. It feels so geometrical and ethereal, and the way it fades out at the end is perfect. This is my favorite song on Loveless. | |

| My favorite "Loveless" track seems to endlessly shift, though it now lies here on "Soon". As far as the song lyrics, I'm pretty uncertain, but the music, or rather noise, is terribly hypnotic. And you're right, nirado, it does fit perfectly as the end. I'm reminded of something every time I hear this song, too, but I can't be sure it's Spyro. | |
