	I think it's about how he likes this girl, she never seems to notice him. She loses her job, she's being replaced and how he never got a chance to talk/take her out and in the end he's trying to come to terms with being alone

	this song is about obsession and rejection. he used cubicles as a metaphor to any situation where every day you see the same girl and fall in love with her. "It's the tearing sound of love-notes Casting out the gray stained windows " means that he writes love notes to her, but never has the nerve to give them to her, so he throws them out a window. basically the song is about loving someone who you see every day but doesn't even notice you exist.

	That's the exact same thing i was thinking earlier today, Winston couldn't express how he felt for fear of dissappearing himself. He didnt know how many others (if any) knew what he knew, making him feel like an outcast, alone. If the book and this song aren't related, it's a damn strange coincidence.

	i can't believe no one has commented on this song yet. one of my favorite mcr songs. i have a few friends who are internet/web design guys who sit in cubes at big companies and theyre all about bringing home the paycheck and getting their little piece of "the american dream" just like everyone else. this song is all about being different, about not doing that with your life. the "i think id love to die alone" is a reference to just being different and doing what you want to do with your life instead of working for the man and being a carbon copy of everyone else in society. if fitting in means sitting in a cube, i for one want to "live and breathe and die alone" ...
