| I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I think there is an error in the lyrics above. "Well I cut his hair AND myself one night" ...I just went back and listened again, and I do believe that "and" is in there, which changes the song completely for me, because not only did she hurt him, but she hurt herself. "And he told me that I'd done alright...," etc is him comforting her through both of their pain. I don't think she is referring directly to samson and delilah, but instead that she is using her experience to refer to a man that she thought of as perfect as samson. I can totally relate, because to me she is saying something is wrong with HER, and thus she takes it out on Samson, and then is accepted for it. He is her sweetest downfall in that she can "fall" and he is there... so it is a fall from grace, but one into which she can collapse and still be loved. I think it's a song of ultimate love and redemption through the eyes of someone else. The part about "we couldn't bring the columns down" refers to her own issues. He can't fix them for her, and whatever is "wrong" with her is permanent. Not fixable by any man, no matter how strong. And history books forgot about us... simply because history no longer takes notice of great love stories. If she was truly referring to the bible verse, that line wouldn't be there... in my opinion. | |

| um, any of you who are saying my chemical romance is a sell-out;; why are you even posting it? people who comment should be people who actually like their music... not for people to complain that they are a "sell out". just because this album isn't your favorite or whatever, you don't have to bitch & moan about it on here. | |

| anathematic, at the end he says he's going to "string this mother****** on fire", out of anger I presume. To me, it seems like it's about the ending of a relationship. I also agree with it being one of the best songs on Three Cheers. This band is amazing | |

| i agree... i think the one half is about a woman who kills their husbands for thier money and keeps repeating this crime to get exactly what she wants, all the finer things in life. Yet the murder is never blamed on here. I think the first half is about a man and theres no way out. He's stuck in this "tomb" for the rest of his life and he feels all alone.. anyway great freekin song | |

| I personally have always thought of this song to be about realizing you've been pretending to be "someone you're not." Therefore, you've ended your true self. I very well could be wrong, but it's how I've looked at it. On a note on the previous comments... Here is my own comment to be added: I believe it's fine to say if you like or dislike the music. That's fine. However, should you say "omgz it sux cuz itz 2 manestreem!11one" or "OMFG U EMO!!!11"... or "i haet rap!!1" and leave your message at that... should be unacceptable. At least give a valid reason for disliking the song. (By the way - I most certainly dislike rap and I love rock... So I'm trying not to be too biased here.) Extra note: Emo is a label usually associated with people who hate their lives and want to die. MCR is the complete opposite of "wanting to die." On the other hand, their style can be called "emo." I'm just stating they're probably NOT the kind of band that believes in teenagers whining about their crappy lives and cutting themselves when the kids are rich and loved by everyone. I'm standing up for the band that has made me love life like a hippie. | |

| I noticed that too. To me it sounds like a combination of the songs "In The Flesh?" (the opening song of the Pink Floyd album "The Wall") and "Five Years" (the opening song of the David Bowie album "Ziggy Stardust.") I think Gerard Way just ran out of ideas on how to write opening lyrics for an album and simply decided to skim off the top. But he has admitted that Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Queen are huge influences on MCR. | |

| yeah i just wanted to say that the line "Walk away from the choice you made" is actually "and walk away as the parties fade." just thought i would be helpful.. but anyway. this is a kick ass song and i agree with whoever said it that it's about 2 people about to get married but the song is saying that this is whats eventually gonna happen. ruined marriage. anyway to whoever said that whole "this elevator only goes up to ten" thing was about how the marriage only lasts 10 years.. well thats actually interesting i like that. never thought of it that way. so yeah. and when the say "to the end" at the very end it's almost like they're giving a sarcastic toast. as if it was a toast to the end when they're just at the beginning. MCR kicks ass! | |
