| This is the conclusion. "I know I can't make you stay, (his lover) "but where's your heart? and I know there's nothing I can say to change that part. (he can't change the way he's treated her, but he is hoping she would still take him back...) "So many bright lights that cast a shadow, but can I speak?" (he sees everything so much brighter now...he is so awed that he is at a loss for words.) "Is it hard understanding I'm incomplete? A life that's so demanding I get weak" (He's saying he's sorry for being weak, giving into his unhappiness and taking it out on her. He realizes that he's incomplete, and he wants to make it up to everyone: his father, his lover, himself...) "All their souls are burning" (i imagine all the members of the black parade burning in bright white light, he is seeing the beauty of it.) "Can you see? My eyes are shining bright. I'm here on the other side of the jet black hotel mirror..." (I see the patient's lover looking into a mirror, splashing water on her face, and he is on the other side of it, on the "other side" still with the Black Parade. He's looking at her, appreciating her for the first time, and he's saying "can't you see my eyes shining bright?" and he's happy. He's maveling at all the beautiful light.) "I AM NOT AFRAID TO KEEP ON LIVING. I AM NOT AFRAID TO WALK THIS WORLD ALONE. Honey, if you stay I'll be forgiving....(or is it really forgiven?) Nothing you can say can stop me going home..." (He is ready to live his life. He is no longer afraid to die, afraid of what others think about him, no longer resentful of his lover. He is appreciating life.) "These brights lights are glowing bright as me." (His soul is shining bright, eminating from him and making him happy, blending with the lights all around him until everything is brilliant white light...) "I see you lying next to me With words I thought I’d never speak Awake and unfraid Asleep or dead.." (all of a sudden, he sees her lying in bed next to him. He doesn't know if he was really dead or asleep. But he doesn't lose his chance, and wakes her up and speaks words he thought he never would. He tells her he's sorry and that he loves her.) The chorus is repeated at the end to show that he has been given a second lease on life. He is going to appreciate it this time around. It is also there for the fans. They are telling us to live every day as if it were our last. That has always been their message for us, and here it is in song. It brings tears to my eyes. It really does make me want to appreciate everything I have. | |

| This is the finale, the big bang. In disenchanted, I feel as though the patient had accepted his past and had put it behind him. It is stating the moral in a very subtle, applicative, hands-on manner. Now Famous Last Words essentially takes what I think to be the moral of the record (live life to the fullest, as you never know what day will be your last) and screams it loud for anyone who didn't catch it before. "I'm not afraid to keep on living/I'm not afraid to walk this world alone" Life is not meant to be feared, true, it has its moments of sorrow, but what the band is trying to say is that you should live it the best you can, no matter what happens. | |

| It sounds like "to change that part" but I might be wrong. "Life is not meant to be feared, true, it has its moments of sorrow, but what the band is trying to say is that you should live it the best you can, no matter what happens." -nhinman Gerard said in an interview that he used to fear death, but then he discovered that it was life that he feared; so I guess he wrote this about getting over that fear. | |

| This song is about The Patient, like nhinman said, declaring that his past is behind him and he isn't afraid of leaving everyone for the afterlife I think that last parts of the song is someone close to him seeing The Patient in ghost form for the last time... like possibly his wife/girlfriend waking up and seeing him, and having to say goodbye for the last time, just so The Patient can be free to leave for Heaven | |
