| Well, as far as whoose version is better.. its debatable... Elvis may have sang it better but Willie wrote it... Willie is such an awesome song writer and that why this song is so great. | |

| This song is such a tear jerker. I think that in the relationship between the two people sung about, one of them deeply loved his partner, but had not been an affectionate person, he knew how he felt inside for his partner but did not ever let his feelings out. Because he was like that, the girl could not see the love that he actually has for her so she felt that she had to move on .. shown she did this in the line 'tell me that your sweet love hasn't died, and give me one more chance to keep you satisfied.' : he asks for one more chance because he realises that he can't keep holding his feelings inside, if he wants to keep her. just how i look at it :) | |

| In my opinion, this is better than the Elvis version. Instead of crooning the words, he's singin it straight from the heart. Only those who've been there would know. www.paulbrowneart.co.uk | |

| This is a song that i love singing and playing along to, but i almost feel like crying when i do. The way that willie nelson sings the lyrics are straight from the heart. Do you ever wish you'd written it yourself? Such a simple song that can mean so much. I love it. | |

| this is definitley one of the best love songs... i think everyone has days like this where they either realize that they haven't been treating the one they love as well as they should, or days when your the person who feels taken for granted, and you feel like they don't mean harm-but at the same time-stranded somewhat in the relationship. for some reason, the way the song is played, it sounds like a story and i feel like saying "i hope it works out...." | |

| This song is so extremely heartbreaking because Willie sings about a complicated situation with such simplicity. The words are also simple yet so meaningful. To me, it's about someone who's on the verge of losing a special person because they haven't been treating that person the way they should be treated. And this person is regretting not expressing their love more often even though the love was always inside of them. | |
