I checked it and this was right as far as I can tell. It seems to be the best
version so far but I didn't write it and I have no idea who did...

| This is what I got out of it: It is about a rivalry in the younger days of two men. One man seemed to overshadow everything that the other did, he seemed to do everything better. The other man wanted so much to be like him, but no matter what he did, he still came up short. Years later, when they met up again, with bad memories faded into the past, they began to make amends. The "inferior" man began to say everything that has troubled him about himself, only to realize that that it is what made him who he is today, and he is proud of that. He needed to realize that he is who he is and everybody has their share of problems, no matter how "perfect" they are. | |

| Well it's talking about the worthless things he wanted. "All I ever really wanted was to be like you" then he says "So perfect...so worthless" Like at the time he thought that person was perfect but now he thinks of his wanting as something worthless. He felt that if he was more perfect he's receive "equal treatment". Then he talks about that after he found it...he didn't want it. so maybe in a way he's talking about the fame...and how he didn't want it. "I didn't need this ...Would somebody help me stand" but of course...people can take this song in several different ways... | |

| I heard, back when this first came out, that the song was about Churchill and Stalin (think it was a radio dj that mentioned it offhand). It's difficult to actually make that fit with anything beyond the first verse, though, so *shrug*. | |

| This is a relationship. I think it's one of those where everyone tells you how great a couple you are and behind closed doors it's actually a living hell. He seems to be having boundry issues and she is not only controlling but hollow ( pretty on the outside, but ugly inside) He's attracted her but found he's caught up. Maybe he was dependant on her building his self esteem (perfect, worthless) | |
