I don't dispute the drug meaning as most of Nickelback's songs have them, but i also derived the meaning of some other lines like an attempted muggin/robbery that ended in an accident (if it had worked like she said it would, just like living in Hollywood) meaning they'd be rich. The Hollywood and Normandy line I thought would be a reference to the victim being a veteran of WWII and how people have no respect for them, to survive that and be killed by a thug, disgusting.
