The four times I've seen them, Chad Kroeger has always prefaced it with: "Here's a little ditty about magic mushrooms." Think about it, "Tell your friends not to THINK outloud? Hello? That is high talk. Then he takes a little trip and envisons a girl, a cliff, and a ring. In the end , it all comes back full circle. My dad came up with a different meaning, about the tactic or state of being "mushroomed." It's an old Navy term meaning that someone keeps themself in the dark about a topic in order to have plausible deniability. Then the entire song makes sense, if you think about it. I'm not sure which meaning is the right one, but looking at the rest of the lyrics on the CD, I'm more inclined to go with meaning #2.

I've seen them once, and Chad said the same thing as what Dan said. But he really did save some girl. I read that in some Rolling Stones Article. Chad's so hot!!!!
