Justin Wanna Be |

| First of all - I am, obviously, a huge *fan* of Nickelback and have great appreciation towards them. Second, My_Iron_Lung *oh for the love of Christ - may you're name perish and rot in Dante's Inferno* Incase you haven't realized it, kid, the whole point of ADDING YOUR COMMENTS is to add a synopsis about the song and not just blatantly flame it like a classic n00b *although you did use a few big words and referained from going all 1337 on us -- thank god for small favors...* Third - after reading pillow's pointout about the purpose of the song, since the song is a combination about both Chad going to juvvi with his friend & while also brings to mind the idea of commiting crimes to help out a friend, I've come up with a logical and likely summary =/ -------- "He said, she said, No she don't Be back before morning, You know she won't I remember that summer, like yesterday And I remember his mother, As he was dragged away..." Basically, here, Chad is talking about how tough it was in juvi; especially for his friend who seems to have endured a lotta shit. The first 2 lines are obviously talking about his friend breaking up with his girl because he's in juvi now, and Chad adds that he won't forget the expression of the mother as she watched her song get locked away. "Got a criminal record, I can't cross state lines First on the bad list, and you're last on mine Lookin for a scapegoat, long past due Walking down the aisle, staring straight at you" Chad's pointing how despite being close friends, despite how they've endured the same shit, and despite practically having almost everything in common, he's just confused as to why his friend chose to stay behind...**by taking that drug or whatever the fuck was in that needle -- which logically could be the friend's way of choosing to stay behind** "I still hear him screaming "where do I hide?" And he asks and I say "hurry inside" A whole lot of memories Yours and not mine And he asks and I say "hurry inside" The chorus just explains itself clearly - Chad is shaken and confused by this whole incident. He points out that he always tried to help his friend out but it never really did much good. He goes on saying that he's got no memories nor any recollection of his own, but only those of his friend's. ------ I think this is the whole overall summary of the song: the theme is mostly revolving around the motiff of "friendship/loyalty/wellfare" -- Chad being a *good friend* by doing his best to help out his friend, sometiems even going to great and *loyal* lengths by taking the fall for the dude; like taking credit and full blame for the crime, even if it means he'll have to suffer -- because this guy is his friend... And yet it seems that despite all his efforts to help him out, his friend just always falls back to his old habits & innevitably, can't seem to avoid trouble. And I think it is possible that Chad's hinting out he's even ratted out on his friend on occassion; only because he's concerned for his friend's *welfare* and is desperate to help him make it through. In the end, he gets out and his friend doesn't. The moral of the story? I think Chad's just pointing out how we all just try to be like superheroes -- we try to make everything perfect in life and how we want everyone to be better off. Even if it means we have to endure shit all the way through -- and how it's just bloody upsetting and just fucking ironic, when we instead do the opposite or just plain can't... *pats herself on the back* | |

| i know exactly what this song is about, i read about it in a ny post interview on www.nickelback.com.. when chad went into juvi hall with a friend, chad came out, and his friend didn't because he tried to get high after injecting something in his arm.. pretty sad, but overall a really damn good song. | |

| Well, i think this song is more about him and his friend both committing crimes, then they both hide in different places and his friend gets caught but he doesnt | |
