Sing me a song...

Am Em Dm Am x6

fade out...

Tablature explanation:
(12) = ghost note
h = hammer on
p = pull off
/ = slide

An angelface smiles to me
Under a headline of tragedy
That smile used to give me warmth
Farewell - no words to say
beside the cross on your grave
and those forever burning candles

Needed elsewhere
to remind us of the shortness of our time
Tears laid for them
Tears of love, tears of fear
Bury my dreams, dig up my sorrows
Oh, Lord why
the angels fall first

Not relieved by thougts of Shangri-La
Nor enlightened by lessons of Christ
I?ll never understand the meaning of the right
Ignorance lead me into the light

(Repeat chorus)

Sing me a song
of your beauty
of your kingdom
Let the melodies of your harps
caress those whom we still need

Yesterday we shook hands
My friend
Today a moonbeam lightens my path
My guardian

This song is about someone dying a tragic death. No one specific, just that when someone dies it reminds you of how short life is and how full of sorrow it can be. Also about the effects of tragic death on your overall happiness in life and how people turn to religion to mend the pain of loss, not because they actually understand the lessons that religion is supposed to teach you. E.G. "Nor enlightened by lessons of Christ IŽll never understand the meaning of the right Ignorance lead me into the light" The chorus is a continuation of the last verse, meaning that when you hear about how good heaven is it makes you feel better to think that person went there.

this is a sad song about missing someone. Its complaining why good people are the one to suffer...its also saying even after their death good people still can inspire us....great song, great lyrics and her vocal just makes it better...

For me, this seems to be about dealing with grief rather than the concept of evil enduring while good suffers and dies. A tragedy takes away a good person - a friend, a hero, whoever - and the singer questions why something like that has to happen. They can't find comfort in "Shangri-La" or the "teachings of Christ", and so can't make sense of the death. It seems like they'll be lost without that person. However, there are still memories. Even if it doesn't make sense that the angels - the truly good people - have to die, the singer's memories of them will still exist and can still be a guide. The candles will forever burn to honor them; the melodies will still play; a moonbeam will lead the singer along the path so that they aren't lost and won't always remain in ignorance. Their death doesn't have to be in vain and can give strength to the singer to encourage them to continue to live and love.
